Roberts does have a special burden. Not wanting to be the next tainted 'Taney' Justice, as a Chief Justice responsible for the landmark, horrible decisions, which burden him already. [Rotten Scalia was so furious with Roberts, but Roberts was for Roberts, not for 'higher' principle].
