3. Why do you insist on saying the Iowa seat is open?

It’s not. Grassley is old, but he has not announced his retirement, and he continues to run 2 miles a day several days a week. It MAY change but at this point he has said he intends to run.

If Reynolds-R gets re-elected Governor and Grassley-R gets re-elected to the US Senate then resigns, Reynolds appoints Grassley's grandson to the US Senate.
I am assuming Grassley's retiring due to Shelby's (R-AL) announced retirement last week. Shelby is a year younger than Grassley and has served in the US Senate less than 6 years than Grassley.
US Senators who ran for re-election when they were over 85 years old.
AK(Stevens-R)2008- lost re-election- later died in a plane crash.
CA(Feinstein-D)2018- won re-election.
HI(Inouye-D)2010- won re-election- later died of natural causes.
OK(Inhofe-R)2020- won re-election- OK former Junior US Senator Coburn-R resigned and later died.
SC(Thurmond-R)1996- won re-election- served out his term the retired in 2002 then later died.
WV(Byrd-D)2006- won re-election- later died of natural causes.
IA Democrats should focus their attention on winning the IA Governors Race because if Democrats win the IA Governors Race and Grassley gets re-elected in 2022. The Democratic Governor of IA will appoint Grassley's replacement to the US Senate.

7. None of which makes the seat open as of now. Grassley

has said he currently intends to run. And if you are setting yourself up as an expert in these things, you should know Pat Grassley is Chuck’s grandson, not his nephew.

4. One thing that the GOP has been successful at doing is branding, right or wrong
Sun Feb 14, 2021, 03:31 PM

We should brand the GOP as the party of Putin, sedition, and desiring their own separate nation with Donald Trump as dictator.

We should make them own their hatred and justify it.

And then, we should get nasty.
