What are the odds of Leahy(D-VT) serving 10 terms in the US Senate?

Leahy has to decide whether or not to run for a ninth US Senate term in 2022. Leahy will be 82 years old in 2022. If Leahy completes his 9th US Senate term in 2028, He has to decide whether or not to run for a 10th term. Leahy is likely to be the longest serving US Senator.
Thurmond(R-SC) has been in the US Senate for 8 terms.
Byrd(D-WV) has been in the US Senate for 9 terms
Grassley(R-IA) has been in the US Senate for 7 terms and is going for an 8th term next year.

Leahy should stay in the US Senate until Feinstein leaves the US Senate. nkpolitics1212 Feb 2021 #7
They both need to leave. But your insight explains things more clearly. SleeplessinSoCal Feb 2021 #8

Welch will be 75 years old in 2022.
Gray is in her 1st term.
Donovan will be 48 years old in 2022 and has been Attorney General of VT since 2017. Donovan is better off running for the open US Senate seat that running for Governor against Phil Scott.

Welch is older than he looks. Good points.

Donavan sounds like a great candidate! We desperately need more brown hair in the Senate.

there were times during the impeaschment trial when he sounded like he was quite unstable. I respect experience, but there comes a time when we all have to face the fact that we can't do everything we used to be able to. That's not only physical, but mental as well.

Rather than what is best for the party and the country. Feinstein should have retired in '18. Now we must wait out her decision, even though she is far less effective now than in the past. And yet...

In January 2021, Feinstein filed the initial Federal Election Commission paperwork needed to seek reelection in 2024, when she will be 91.

Plus I think younger Senators will bring much needed vibrancy and fight to the Democratic Party.

If Leahy leaves, the next in line to become President Pro Tempore of the US Senate is Feinstein. After Feinstein, - Murray-WA, Wyden-OR, Durbin-IL, Reed-RI, Schumer-NY,etc.
