Is Grassley(R-IA) running for re-election to make sure his grandson replaces him?

Chuck Grassley(R-IA) gets re-elected to the US Senate. Kim Reynolds(R-IA) gets re-elected to the IA Governorship. Chuck Grassley resigns or dies during the middle of his 8th term. Governor Kim Reynolds appoints Pat Grassley to his grandfather’s US Senate seat. This will give Pat Grassley the incumbency advantage during the 2026 special election primary and general.

My god, he’s 88 freakin years old. And no accusations of ageism, please. My husband died at 87 and he was in good shape up to his last year, but he certainly couldn’t have kept up with the pace a senator should be maintaining. It’s time for younger people to take over, and not his grandson.
