If Feinstein leaves office before 2022, will there be an election in 2022?

1. She was re-elected in 2018 so this term ends in 2024, California has special elections to replace.

I don't know who, but I think Newsom would be better as a Senator than another term as Gov. Maybe it is time for California to have a Mexican American governor, female of course.
