An Appreciation Thread~ Our President Barack Obama~

I was planning on posting an appreciation thread of my own today, when I was able to return to DU. My connections have been down for a few days. However, I could not have planned anything more powerful than this link from TOD~

rise and shine….happy father’s day!
By utaustinliberal

Thank you utaustinliberal, for saying it better than I ever could! This is every reason that I Appreciate Our President.

Thank you President Barack Obama.

Please take the time to read the rest at the link below~

A president is often referred to as the father of the country. He nurtures it, guides it in the right direction, lays down policies that will not only help the country in the interim, but also ten, twenty, thirty years down the line. When his term is done, (the formative years of a child’s life) the country has either regressed or grown in leaps and bounds. In that vein, let’s take a look at how far America has progressed under Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States.

Economy

Passed the Stimulus: The Bush-led Great Recession was costing the economy nearly 800,000 jobs per month by the time President Obama took office. Signed $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in 2009 to spur economic growth amid greatest recession since the Great Depression. Weeks after stimulus went into effect, unemployment claims began to subside. Twelve months later, the private sector began producing more jobs than it was losing. The economy has now created over 6 million jobs.

Women

Signed the Democratic-sponsored Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which restored basic protections against pay discrimination for women and other workers; giving women who are paid less than men for the same work the right to sue their employers after they find out about the discrimination, even if that discrimination happened years ago. (The first bill he signed into law)

All of the teabagger sock puppets that have been attacking president Obama on DU give away thier true allegiances by always missing out on opportunities to thank President Obama for all of the wonderful work he has done in trying to stop or mitigate the damage caused to our country by Teabaggers and the shrub. They love to claim the president is most unamerican and out to "spy on every American, all the time".
Teabagger sock puppets give themselves away out of sheer hatred and ignorance- reminds me of the study conducted to determine the intellectual capacity of different partisan personality types.
Right wing extremism attracts individuals with low information capability and the willfully ignorant- this is why they keep reposting the same CNet story over and over. (never mind that the story was cropped from an extreme right wing LaRouche blog with ties to the Koche brothers) Obama derangement syndrome is difficult to disguise, especially in Teabaggers.

(The first bill he signed into law)

Expanded funding for the Violence Against Women Act.

Appointed more women to federal judgeships than any other president in American history.

Nominated Avril Haines to be first female Deputy CIA Director.

Wrote and signed an Executive Order establishing a White House Council on Women and Girls to ensure that all Cabinet and Cabinet-level agencies evaluate the effect of their policies and programs on women and families.

Signed the Tribal Law and Order Act, a law that gives tribal authorities greater authority to prosecute and punish criminals who assault Native American women on Native American land.

Nominated Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court. Sotomayor is the first Hispanic Justice in the court’s history.

Appointed the most diverse Cabinet in history, including more women than any other incoming president.

Eliminated federal funding for abstinence-only education, and rescinded the global gag rule.

Signed an Executive Order pledging support for efforts to end the global problem of violence against women and girls.

Appointed the first female Director of the Secret Service.

Increased funding for community-based prevention programs.

Through American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, provided $500 million for Health Professions Training Programs.

In 2009, eliminated the Bush-era restrictions on embryonic stem cell research, which shows promise in treating spinal injuries, among many other areas.

Our way forward is so clear. Huge strides have been made. In health, family, education and yes the support of woman in so many ways.

We finally passed VAWA, wow what a fight that was. A fight for decency, our right to protect our woman, children and other partners, gay, straight, American Indian, or immigrant. It is our right and it is decent. Our President, Vice President and First Lady all fought for this with us. It is our shame as a country that it had to be fought at all.

I appreciate and support this President in all that he has helped to change. For all that he hopes to change.

This passage means a lot to me~

A president is often referred to as the father of the country. He nurtures it, guides it in the right direction, lays down policies that will not only help the country in the interim, but also ten, twenty, thirty years down the line. When his term is done, (the formative years of a child’s life) the country has either regressed or grown in leaps and bounds.

He has indeed changed our present, and better yet he has changed our future. We have grown in leaps and bounds. We will continue to grow.

He has changed our future, our children. They know, Cha.

They are our future and they are Strong!

President Obama is a really exemplary example of a father.
Who can compete with him? Nobody! I love it.

Michelle is terrific.
His daughters are soooo cute.
It's good that we have such a great President as President Obama at this time in our lives.

Cherish these days, because they won't last forever.

I do cherish them.

No, it won't last forever. However, I feel the imprint is there. I believe that it will make a difference for future generations.

and should be.

Those children are going to grow up and do something important for all of us. They are going to continue their father's legacy of doing what is right, even if it doesn't seem possible at first.

The will grow up to be amazing women. How could they not with their parents as role models, and the beautiful love and nurturing that they have received.

A Supreme Court Judge, President~ the possibilities are endless!
