For the BOG - Feeling a bit down could use some support from my brothers and sisters at BOG

I see the personal attacks against the President have started up again on this site. No matter how hard I try that's all I ever see the concern members of this site bashing the President. I think I'm getting burned out on all of this political stuff. Have any of you ever thought about taking a break from it for a while?

And just stay away from politics.

There's groups for cooking, shopping, Netflix, gardening, energy, different sports, etc., and you can see them all here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forums

If you change you bookmark to be one of these groups, or to be the page showing your subscriptions, you can visit the site and miss that crap.

Take care, hang in there!

I don't want to see you burn out. When I need a break, I post as I please, mostly pictures and stories at the BOG. This place can in fact heal you. There are so many great friends that are active here. It is like coming home sometimes~

People are very informative and you learn a lot. Try not to take it so hard, the Internet brings out the best and worst in people. The president bashing will only subside for a while and then start back up.
I also enjoy reading and spend time on a forum dedicated to the ASOIAF series. Lots of politics in that place too.
We have a good president but some people want perfection. Sadly we all have different ideas of perfect.

I just got back from a nice long break.. went camping, visited friends on the other side of the Island.. I even went to the mountains here and stayed in a cabin for a bit.

I needed it for body mind and spirit.. I took a vacay from the internet. It does a body good.

And sorry I didn't get back to your heartfelt reply to me on that other thread.

I really did feel better and like crying after I read the responses and didn't know what to say; I just read them a few times. They all meant a lot, the ones from you and our regulars, and people I didn't know well.

I am sympatico with you and have enjoyed your OPs in the other forums. Let's hand out here and have a good time together.

We have the best president ever and I don't care who can't see that; it is their loss. We have been blessed to have Obama and his family grace our lives.

It's hard to face this fascist media environment that attacks all we hold dear and has so much money. It can be very discouraging.

You are much appreciated here, Cordell.

And it is good to go get perspective. You usually handle the negativity much better upon your return.

I'm sure you can understand how I like to spend and honor Christmas Day - with a total absence of electronics, unless a friend calls. But no tv or radio or internet. I don't even want to hear talk about anything else that happens out in the world that day.

is just check the authors of all the threads without looking at the titles. I have been here long enough to sort out the handful of the concern members from the rest, and I know to not click on their threads. Plus the function that allows DUers to trash keywords has been handy. I thought about using it for the paranoia-induced NSA threads.

I got four posts hidden in 90 days so I'm not qualified for jury duty! This is very odd for me (having that many posts hidden, though a couple of them a think were not that bad and just happened to find enough emo jurors).

So I made the BOG my bookmark page for DU instead of GD. I take a little break every once in a while.

I think I'll just hang out here for a while. I just don't like the quality of posters we're running into in GD these days. These folks scare me. It's almost like there are a clique of people here.

Hang in there, the President needs positive voices and support - especially during these times (which occur all too often, these 'these times'. Whenever the media and the pugs/baggers get a new chew toy to gnaw on so many fools go along).

But if you think you need a break, then you probably do. Sometimes just a few days away can refresh you, sometimes it takes longer.
