I know he is not perfect, but as I have said before he talks to our better angels. There something fundamentaly and intensely positive, good about him. There are, fortunately, many people like that, but Obama has the special skill of being able to touch many people, to move them, even so slightly towards being better, being less selfish, believing in others. That + smarts + at times the special brand of ruthlesness required of a succesful politician (and I don't mean it as criticism)
