What President Obama has done for the LGBT community, thus far..

Actions speak louder than words. Obama has done more for the LGBT community than any other President. Of course there's more to do, but as the sister of a lesbian, I know Obama is going to work for her and with her. The republicans on the other hand, are going to work against her and for people who believe that everyone should live by their moral code and religious beliefs.

So let's not get worked up because the President won't use the language we'd like him to use. Cheney and a few of the Bush officials stated that they supported same sex marriage, all the while they supported anti- gay and lesbian legislation. Their actions didn't match their words. I too would like the President to publicly say: he supports marriage equality, BUT I'll be patient as long as he continues to sign bills and advocate for causes that are beneficial to the LGBT community. Listen, there's too much at stake to sit this election out.. It's not just about this one issue, it's about the elderly, poor, women, the disabled and the make up of the Supreme Court. Romney has donated to organizations that are anti- gay and lesbian, he also supports the Ryan budget; that will cause great hardship to all of the folks I've mentioned.

We have to keep our eyes on the prize, and not only fight to get this President re-elected, but fight to change the make up of Congress. Let's not push to be pacified short-term, we must look for the long -term solutions. Let's not let the likes of Rove and his cohorts divide us, let's stick together and continue to fight.

Here's a reminder of all the things President Obama has done for the LGBT community.

"Signed the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, expanding federal hate crime law to include crimes motivated by gender, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Signed the Affordable Care Act of 2010, a comprehensive overhaul of America’s health care system that will hold insurance companies accountable, lower health care costs, guarantee greater patient choice, and enhance the quality of care for all Americans; LGBT Americans are disproportionately uninsured, and this law will provide access to affordable coverage and protection from insurance companies that deny coverage for pre-exisLting conditions.

Lifted the discriminatory ban on entry to the United States based on HIV status

Ordered the Department of Health and Human Services to guarantee medical decision making and visitation rights to LGBT couples

Expanded the Family Medical Leave Act to ensure that LGBT parents and partners can take leave from work to care for their child, parent, or spouse—a right afforded to any other family."

One candidate endorsed marriage equality. The other candidate wants to end it in the states that have already approved it.

One candidate sees us as human beings. The other held one of us down and cut off his hair.

One candidate has worked to get us our equal rights. The other has fired his openly gay foreign policy spokesperson.

As a gay supporter of Barack Obama, I know I'm not the only one.

I can just feel it in my bones. We knew all along that Obama was for marriage equality the whole time. He said so years ago. But had to backtrack for the first presidential election. It's great that it's finally out in the open and that it's being used against Romney so well, what with his bullying that gay student so long ago.

That's Obama playing hardball and it's delicious.
