A joyous day in Atlanta. I haven't been to Atlanta in many years, but I did enjoy a summer there. My Irish grandmother and some of her sisters lived there.

On the youtube page it said Obama is the first POTUS in 80 years to visit Morehouse College. History is continuing to be made by our 44th President!

Not a few detractors chided him for looking so 'professorial', remember. But see how inspirational! Without vision the people perish.

Absolutely one of my favorite pictures shows him from the side, leaning back against a wall, his arms crossed... and the tagline reads something about bringing back smart as cool.

And I never tire of reminding folks that he's been a powerfully moderating influence on my own temperament, because you should've seen me before (or maybe not!) when I'd just about as soon slap some idiot jerk silly as to look at him. Now I try to remember to follow President Obama's example and walk a little softer, no matter how big a stick I carry. Or imagine that I do. Forgive me for dragging a Teddy Roosevelt quote into view, but he was progressive for his times in a number of ways. And I do love that particular slogan. Just gotta remember the first part.

Between President Obama and Dorothy Day, I might wind up becoming a halfway reasonable person.
