Florida couple takes Walmart motorized shopping cart on joyride to bar, police say

A man and his girlfriend have been busted in Florida for joyriding in a motorized shopping cart from Walmart to a local dive bar.

Surveillance video at a Walmart in Largo captured Jeffry Sabiel, 50, and Santa Walters, 32, stealing the shopping cart reserved for handicapped customers, Largo Patch reported.

The Clearwater couple was seen driving out of the Walmart parking lot and heading west on a local road, according to WFLA-TV.

After being notified, Largo police spotted the cart a half-mile away outside Jimmy’s Sports Lounge, according to the station. An officer found Sabiel and Walters at the bar, officials said.

During an interview, the pair denied taking the cart but then confessed, the station reported.

They were each released Thursday on $2,000 bond after being booked on grand theft charges.

The police found a snowmachine parked outside a bar, I think it was Chilcoot Charlie's.

They looked for the owner but he got on the machine and took off, they chased him all over Anchorage but he got away.

Tad bit more horsepower than an electric shopping cart.

Forget where I saw it .... probably a Canadian news site .... they did a feature on the strange ways people came to a bank drive thru. One guy came on a snow machine, another came on his sled pulled by a dog team. The best one I thought was the guy that drove over from the ice rink next door .... on a Zamboni.

Top speed is about 2 miles an hour, I think. They look like very small 4 wheeled battery powered tractors, but have a shopping basket in front. Seats one Wal-mart sized person.

Down here, people have taken their riding lawn mowers down to the "package store" which was 2 feet over the county line.
Our county was dry, the next county was wet, meaning you could buy booze there.

I tried one at Publix at some point before my knees were replaced. Even as crippled as I was, I could walk faster than it moved!

Now my scooter I bought off of Craigslist is pretty peppy - it can go maybe 4-5 MPH. I should get rid of it since I don't need it any more, but it's paid for.
