Edinburgh Christmas Market stall mocked by Arrested Development fans for selling L5 bananas

A Edinburgh Christmas market stall has been ridiculed by visitors for charging a fiver a piece for bananas.

The chocolate fondue dipping stand has been mocked for 'ramping up' banana prices after one visitor posted a picture of the price tag online.

The post in the 'Edinburgh' subreddit was met with considerable amusement as redditors attempted to unpick the hefty charge.

"You assume this is for them to be dipped into something rather than just a fiver per plain old banana...." wrote one.

While another user was quick to say: "If they’re not dipping it in silver I ain’t buying. Do you think I could sell them some bananas £2.50 each? "

The post was also jumped on by fans of the US sit-com Arrested Development.

Quoting lines instantly recognisable to fans of the hit comedy series, one user wrote:

"There's always money in the banana stand."

I think the title line doesn't allow the £ symbol, otherwise it really is weird news.

A few years ago I saw that on a bumper sticker and laughed out loud.

I had a coworker who's contribution to a pot luck lunch was a banana. One banana. She cut it up on a paper plate from the break room and a plastic knife. She also thought our gift exchange limit should be $1. As you can guess that she is cheap. Another coworker said that she has 75 cents of every dollar she's ever made buried in her backyard. I saw her once actually pray for a good parking spot. Good heart. Nice person... but yeah.
