Man followed woman, shot her on I-85 after she cut him off, investigators say

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — A man is now in custody after investigators say he followed a woman, then shot her along Interstate 85 in a possible case of road rage.

The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened Tuesday somewhere between the Newnan and the Fairburn exits around 5:45 a.m.

“I think it was road rage, something like that, not a random shooting on the interstate,” said Toby Nix with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said the victim and the man under arrest, DeAnthony Clark, worked at Hello Fresh, a meal boxing and delivery company in Newnan.

Even though the suspect and victim worked at the same facility, authorities said they don’t believe the two knew each other

When they were leaving an overnight shift early Tuesday morning, the victim may have unknowingly cut in front of Clark as they left the parking lot.

“We believe she didn’t know what she did to anger him. He was angry about something that happened in the parking lot, followed up the interstate and shot her,” Nix said.

The gunman fired at least two shots at the woman’s car and one bullet hit her in the back. Paramedics rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital where she underwent surgery to remove the bullet.

3. I used to be one of the crazies on the road...

Not to the extreme of the article posted here, but one of those who drove way too fast... in a big hurry.

It's been several years now since I decided to slow down. I now drive the speed limit in the slow lane. I see all of the crazies on the interstate. They're in such a hurry to get to where they're going. I get a kick out of seeing them speed toward a bottleneck only to be slowed to the point that I'm able to catch back up to them. The way that they drive is very dangerous. And for what? To save 30 seconds on their commute? I'd love to speak to them en-mass and ask if they would please just get out of bed 30 seconds earlier and drive considerately so as not to endanger the rest of the drivers on the interstate.

It's a shame that this happened. From what I see on the roads, it's amazing that it doesn't happen more often. Especially when the number of weapons available to Americans is taken into affect. The first response of many is to go red immediately in a stressful situation. When guns are added to that equation, the outcome can't (and won't) be good.

6. I watch the .."crazies on the road"...especially on busy 4 lane city streets with lots of traffic...

...So the crazies pass me by on a busy street going 10 to 15 miles over the limit, (I usually go 5 mph over the limit.... if not busy) then the crazies get stopped at the very next stop light, and I am right behind
him/her...There is one thing I want to avoid when driving...."an accident"....While I hate getting a
"ticket"...the words "car accident" really frighten me for lots of reasons that I won't go into..

How much time do they actually save by driving like that? When a vehicle speeds by just to be stopped at a traffic light ahead for an amount of time for the traffic they passed to catch back up with them. It's insanity.

Again. To be an observer now is fun. And much safer.

If they get pulled over as I pass by, I honk and wave.

After over 1.5 million miles of driving for hire, I have no desire to go on many road trips because I don't want to be on the road with the vast majority of present day drivers for all the other reasons mentioned in comments above.

You may get ahead now and then, but over time, you will always be limited to what the overall speed of the traffic is.

My years of driving experience since then bears that out.

You see some yahoo jockeying from one lane to another, often dangerously, then end up sitting next to the same guy at a stop light down the road a peace.
