Hillary Clinton

Clinton wants the best person to make the case to the American people, her campaign chairman, John Podesta, told the Globe. Well start with a broad list and then begin to narrow it. But there is no question that there will be women on that list, he said, adding that staffers are still focused on clinching the primary.

Very interesting thought...
What do you think?

I think he's a moral "purist" who would try to block any progress in his quest for perfection.

Claire McCaskill
Gov's Sebelius or Granholm?
Michelle Obama ( what a ticket, two former First Ladies and dang, I don't want the Obamas to leave! Her approval ratings are high!)

(15,373 posts)if on that list, will not be selected. We need them in the Senate. Ditto for women governors.
Michelle would be loverly, but she really deserves a rest after being in the battle zone for the past eight years.
There are a lot of talented women, just as there are a lot of talented candidates of other minorities.

(685 posts)Moved to California when she was four, became a citizen at 21....
it would have to be a really big loop.

(3,580 posts)I trust her and think she doesn't need to balance the ticket by picking a male. She needs to pick a VP like Obama did, him and biden like each other, biden can work with him and Obama was smart enough to recognize his own short comings and picked biden to balance his needs and not the tickets. Which I think is why he picked biden for VP and believed he needed Hillary as sos. My only hope is she picks someone young enough to run in 24. Leaves out Bernie and Warren. Either of them could fill another position in the Hillary administration.

(2,792 posts)I don't think Elizabeth Warren would accept, and I would hate to see Democrats lose a senator. But that would be a blockbuster ticket, on many counts. Elizabeth Warren has great popularity and an amazing ability to shred Republican talking points. She would also bring many Sanders supporters back to the fold.
Hillary will have lots of talent to choose from. There are many strong women and men in the Democratic party.

Most American men can handle Hillary Clinton in part because they know she's tough as nails, and she's incredibly qualified, but we're maybe asking too much from them to support a ticket that's 100% woman.

(4,640 posts)but I have to agree. SHE has shown over many years that she's tough. However, given many factors in our current society, I do think her VP has to be a guy.

(15,438 posts)But dreams aside, we need to keep it real, based on the culture of our country. Women still aren't being paid the same as men, so why would the Boston Globe try to propagate a 100% woman ticket? Perhaps they hope Hillary is stupid enough to fall for it so that Trump or Crazy-Cruz will win the White House at a time that the next president will need to fill probably four seats on SCOTUS? Could that be why?
Let's work first to get ONE woman elected president of the United States. That would go a long way in breaking yet another historic record - in addition to breaking that friggin' glass ceiling - and then maybe, maybe one day, when our androcentric nation can see that having a woman at the head of our country works well and is nothing to be afraid of, we can think about a ticket that's 100% woman.

(23,745 posts)the President and their VP's have been all male since 1789 with George Washington and John Adams. But I'll take one step at a time.
