Local legislative leaders sign onto Hillary for Iowa
8 hours ago By Christinia Crippes
WATERLOO | Iowa Rep. Timi Brown-Powers, D-Waterloo, wasnt entirely surprised she had made an impression on Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton when the two met briefly in Des Moines this spring.
But Brown-Powers couldnt believe when the two met a second time during a private event in Waterloo that Clinton remembered not only the red, curly hair but also the specifics of their conversation. And once she heard Clinton address the crowd, Brown-Powers was finally convinced.
I believe her. Shes being genuine, Brown-Powers said Thursday, recalling her earlier revelation, in officially announcing her support for Clintons campaign.
Brown-Powers and Iowa Democratic Sens. Bill Dotzler and Jeff Danielson all officially announced their endorsement of Clinton during an open house event that also officially rang in the local organizing office.
Dotzler and Danielson didnt need the same convincing that Brown-Powers did, as both had supported Clintons previous bid for the office in 2008. Still, they showed similar enthusiasm as the first-term lawmaker Brown-Powers in signing on to the campaign.
I dont know how you could not be excited about the opportunity to elect a quality candidate like Hillary Clinton, Dotzler said. I know shes going to win the caucuses and win the nomination. I know it.
Iowa Rep. Timi Brown-Powers, D-Waterloo, asks a question of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at a business roundtable discussion at Bike Tech Tuesday, May 19, 2015, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

(24,506 posts)Always good to see people (even legislators) out and involved
It's always interesting to read/hear from people who have met the candidates
The comment about Ms. Clinton remembering her hair and the conversation they had is often forgotten by many.
It says she was listening to the person and focused
It's another reason why, should she get the nomination, I will vote for her in the GE without reservation

(2 posts)It is to bad that Hillary Clinton is not campaigning for the end to the most destructive problems that are destroying the middle class.
She is NOT saying that she will fight for and protect Social Services.
(Health care, Medical, Medicaid.)
She is NOT saying that she will work to end Citizens United which is allowing corporations to give millions and millions of dollars to their favorite politicians in turn for special favors that help corporations and make it worse for U S Citizens.
She is NOT saying that she is FOR Financial Wall Street REFORM.
WHY isn't she?
Corporate Greed is the main reason that the Middle Class is in deep trouble and it has to stop before it is to late.
Doesn't she care?
With all due respect, I can not support Hillary when she is not addressing the most harmful problems and issues that are hurting people and crippling our country.
It is clear that she supports
corporations that put profit over the health and safety of the American people and and she doesn't care that much for the middle class.
That is why I am supporting Bernie Sanders for President because he is fighting against the main problems that are hurting the middle class people of the United States and Hillary is not.
