Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumDan Rather editorial
Much ink (or pixels these days) has been spilled about how unprecedented this election season is, but surprisingly I think there has been relatively little about how remarkable it is that we are about to have a woman as the nominee of a major party, one who looks even to be favored for the White House.

Qualifies it with "not an endorsement?"
Unfortunately, he will always be tainted with his guarantee that CBS would never call a vote until they were absolutely certain of the results.
Then - Florida. Before the polls closed in the panhandle!
Fond memories of President Gore, anyone?

(360 posts)8. I am surprised at
some of the comments. They are upbeat and supportive of Hillary, instead of the usual FB dribble on any posts from a well known person who even hints at praising Hillary.

(15,365 posts)11. I still respect Dan Rather as one of the
last remaining journalists.
He says a lot of good things here and I liked this conclusion:
These women will vote for whom they think is the best candidate, regardless of gender. But one criteria that they will use to make their decision is whether the candidates acknowledge that there is, and has always been, a double standard where women have had to prove, far too often, that they belong.
Fortunately, there are men like Dan Rather who "get" it. I am married to one. But there are too many others - and I include women in the "others" - who dismiss sexism and related women's concerns as "distractions."

I was window shopping one night and realized that the person standing next to me was Dan Rather. He needed a haircut.
