Sanders Campaign Manager Cautions Clinton Against Shift Back to Middle
Sanders supporters are likely to stay home in November if that happens, Jeff Weaver warned on the Masters in Politics podcast.

Jeff Weaver, the campaign manager for Bernie Sanders, issued a warning to Hillary Clinton on Bloombergs Masters in Politics podcast: If she makes a shift back to the middle on important issues in a general election campaign, she shouldnt count on Sanders supporters to be there for her in November. "The Secretary has obviously moved to the left of this campaign substantially in an attempt to block out Senator Sanders," Weaver noted. "But as too often happens, one worries that when the primary is over that candidate becomes much more centrist in a general election. If that happens, I think you will see a lot of Sanders supporters just sit home frankly."
Weaver also reiterated that even though Sanders is behind in the pledged delegate count, the senator will continue to fight for every vote in the Democratic presidential primary. "Secretary Clinton may want to move on, but there's certainly a contest going on and he's gonna fight for every vote and every delegate from now till the end, he said.
Weaver reported that Sanders will be all over California in the coming weeks. He's going to make a full court press. Hes going to be holding rallies all over the state and meeting people. I think he will move people there like he did in Indiana or Michigan and a number of other places."......................

(67,782 posts)Sanders NOT supporting Clinton in the general election would essentially be political suicide, although at 75 years old he may not really care any more.

(10,893 posts)I'm not worried. The small handful who won't vote for her due to a perceived shift to the center will likely be offset by any remaining level-headed BS supporters as well as any moderate Republicans who are repulsed by Trump. I have the suspicion that many (if not all) of the Sanders supporters who are doing the blackmailing and say they won't vote for HC probably weren't going to regardless, and they may not even be Democrats at all. All this shows is how self-centered and immature Weaver and those types of people are. If they don't completely get their way, they're willing to risk screwing themselves and the rest of the country over.

(12,448 posts)First he talks about the general election with Hillary Clinton as candidate, then he talks about "a full court press" by Sanders.
Besides, who the hell cares what Weaver thinks, or threatens. She's winning without the Bernie or Bust morons, and most Sanders supporters will vote for Hillary in the general.
