Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumSusan Sarandon Pins Hopes For Bernie Sanders Win on Hillary Clinton Having ‘Health Issues’
Even as the sands run out of the Bernie Sanders campaigns delegate hourglass, the upstart Democratic presidential candidates surrogates continue to hope for an outcome that results in Sanders becoming the nominee instead of Hillary Clinton. One of Sanders most vocal and vociferous surrogates has now taken those hopes to a dark place. In a recent interview with Larry King, Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon said shes still not ready to say she would vote for Hillary over Donald Trump, and told King that shed see what happens.
Asked what could happen to give Bernie the nomination, heres what Sarandon said:

(1,048 posts)Did she really say that?!!!! Its fine to not support her but to even allow to slip from your mouth the possibility that she could get a health issue so serious to prevent her from getting the nomination is sick. This is a mother and grandmother. Such a trashy thing to say!!!! As much as I hated both George Bush Presidents and the Romneys I would NEVER stoop so low as to suggest that.

(296,821 posts)That was my reaction to reading it - WTF?!!!! I expect this shit from the Right, but...what am I saying, I guess this primary has shown us we can expect the same shit from the Left, now too. It's just SO disappointing. I've lost respect for so many people in the last few months.

And, we know how someone can lose with grace and dignity.. that ain't burnie.
Thank you again, Surya~

(30,058 posts)The nomination is very deluded, Hillary would release her delegates to someone like Biden, O'Malley or many other qualifed Democrats, they will not default to Sanders. Over three million votes against Sanders, we the people have spoken.

(5,648 posts)If that is the only ledge you can cling to, you are admitting that your candidate is in deep and serious trouble.
By the way, who is more likely to encounter health problems, 68 year old Hillary Clinton or 74 year old Bernard Sanders.

(3,284 posts)Have you ever noticed that people attack Hillary for things her male competitors are much more guilty of? Trump (of all people!) attacks her for "abusing women", Susan Sarandon claims Hillary has health problems (compared to 74 y.o. Bernie). AND, since women typically outlive men, that 6 year difference is actually more like 9 years.
CajunBlazer
(5,648 posts)The difference between men and women in those age brackets are not wide as you will expect.
A 68 year old woman's life expectancy is 17.8 years
A 74 year old man's life expectancy is 11.5 years
Difference: 6.3 years, just slightly larger than their actual age differences.
However,
The chances of a 74 year man dying in the next year are 3.44%
Also the chances of a 68 year woman dying in the next year are 1.35%
So the chances of Sanders having a fatal illness is more than 2.5 times that of Hillary.
(Not that there is anything wrong with that )

(3,284 posts)LOL @ your last sentence.
Yes, why don't they ever mention the gender difference when they mention how "old" Hillary is? 6.3 years could easily make a difference between finishing & not finishing a term as Prez.
I actually don't have a problem with either of their ages, but it's absurdly hypocritical to call her age/health into question when you consider her competitor!

(15,365 posts)Some SBS supporters sound so much like Trump supporters, it is VERY difficult to tell the difference.
If Susan S's name had not been associated with the quote at the outset, my first thought would have been that it came from a Trump GOPer.
VERY sorry state of things, IMO.

(2,577 posts)I thought she was childish, inappropriate, and obnoxious on Colbert. I was appalled at the film clip where she says that Trump will bring the revolution faster.
It really seems like she is drunk, on drugs, or a combination of the two. She is just not appropriate. Time for her to get off the talk show circuit and go home.
