Hillary Clinton

http://nymag.com/thecut/2016/05/white-men-trump-clinton.html?mid=facebook_nymag"This election may be good for divorce lawyers," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac poll. "The gender gap is massive and currently benefits Trump."
Another revealing result of the poll: Voters say Trump would do a better job handling the economy and terrorism, even though voters in all three states think Clinton is more intelligent than Trump by a wide margin. Hmmm, funny how that works.
Thank heavens for AAs, Latinos, and ... women, along with all white males who are not men-babies!

(15,366 posts)But there were - and are - also good ones.
But I do take your point.
I've just finished watching "The Hunting Ground," the CNN version of the 2015 documentary film about campus rape. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hunting_Ground
It recently came up as a Netflix selection in Europe and I had never seen it before. So this headline resonated a LOT with me.
This really is a world where white men's rules dominate, in case anyone ever doubted. It's LONG past time for a change when we have a women as intelligent and talented as Hillary.

(2,577 posts)I know quite a few men who are Hillary supporters and think Trump is a dangerous farce. They also are underwhelmed by Bernie.
Count among them my husband.
The Trump support I see around me is largely uneducated white guys in old trucks.

(15,366 posts)and qualified it somewhat in my own statement.
Mr BlueMTexpat is a white man who is NOT a man-baby. He is also a staunch Hillary supporter. There are plenty like him whom I know. Thank heavens for that!
But let's face it: white men - educated or not - form an overwhelming part of Trump's demographic.

(2,577 posts)Sounds like we have two really good ones. There are quite a few out there, cutting into the Donald's main demographic.

(81 posts)My husband and my three sons .
They are all horrified by Trump.
Granted, they are ALL Bernie supporters. I think I've made life a little to good for them, by taking care of all the nitty gritty, quiet, unsexy, details, that no one wants to hear about, so they don't have to worry their pretty little heads about it and can afford to talk "smart" . I love them anyway. But, they might be living in the Airstream in the front yard if the don't wise up!

(20,450 posts)Most haven't voted for the Democratic nominee since Bill Clinton ran in 1992. These are the "soccer moms" who may be more traditional and/or follow their husband's vote.
Most white people, period, did not vote for Al Gore, John Kerry or Barack Obama.
It required a coalition of progressive white men and women, blacks, Hispanics, and other segments of the population to get Obama into office.
BlueMTexpat
(15,366 posts)you there and I find it very disappointing as well. I find it especially disappointing that many white women have been supporting Bernie Sanders over Hillary. But I also realize that most of these are not Bernie-or-buster types. I thank heavens for my AA, POC and other minority sisters who have had the good sense all along to realize what an outstanding candidate we have in Hillary.
But demographically Trump's majority support base is more white men than any other group. That's a fact. And white men have been lording it over the world and its peoples for better or for worse for centuries. That's the point of this article.

(236 posts)Although I grew up in a liberal section of Chicago I have lived the last 30 years in a small, conservative, blue-dog democrat community in southern Illinois.
In 2008, one of the democratic leaders told me he could bring himself to vote for a woman, but he just could not vote for a black (man). I am convinced this is one of the reasons so many of the states Hillary won in 2008 she lost this year. A lot of the "angry white males" would vote for a white women over a black, but not over a white man, no matter what his positions were.
I also feel there are a lot of women, particularly those who have not been in a workplace where they had to compete with men, mirror those positions.
I also think a lot of the comments of the Sanders supporters mirror this gender gap. I am afraid it is the new generation of the angry white male!
