Biden wanted Warren as his VP--thinks HRC should too

Joe Biden took months to decide he wouldn’t run for president — but he was sold on Elizabeth Warren as his running mate from the start, people familiar with the situation told POLITICO.

And he still thinks the Massachusetts firebrand would be Hillary Clinton’s best choice to replace him as the nation’s No. 2 in January 2017.

And Warren hasn’t entirely resisted the suggestion — in part, because it gives her leverage to influence Clinton’s potential staffing decisions in the Treasury Department and financial oversight boards.

On Wednesday, the 66-year-old former Harvard Law professor refused to rule out accepting an offer to join Clinton on the 2016 ticket, employing the kind of non-answer answer she’s used throughout much of the campaign to stay above the fray.

“We've got to get all of our nominations settled on the Democratic side,” she told the website Mic when asked the veep question. “For me, I’m going to keep doing my job every single day and I’m not thinking about another job.”

Warren — to the delight of Clinton’s staff — has recently trained her fire on Donald Trump, a move that many Clintonites interpret as evidence that the darling of the Democrats’ anti-establishment wing might be willing to accept Clinton, despite the front-runner’s deep and lucrative connections to the New York financial services sector.

1. I guess I'm the only one not "sold" on former Republican Elizabeth Warren as a Democratic VP.

Her PR team certainly seems to be earning their keep lately, but I'm just not buying it.

Well, it certainly wouldn't be because of how she endorsed and supported Hillary Clinton during the primary, we know that much.

I think Warren tried to play both sides and deserves to lose completely because of it. Clinton doesn't need a VP from whom she needs to constantly guard her back, and Warren pretty much made it clear that's what Clinton should expect from her.

just may have saved Hillary in a very strange political primary season.

Warren is very specific in her targeting and goals (financial services), not broad brushed like Sanders.

A Warren VP could bring in the under-40 constituency supporting sanders - at least a significant number of them who aren't the Hillary Haters!

If Warren came on - it would be a game changer.

And she is already going at it with Trump on "twitter!"

If picked as VP she would run her own agenda and not that of the WH.

Her Twitter wars with Trump have been great and she'd bring in the Bernie vote without putting that angry man on the ticket. Would 2 women alienate the male vote? It could be an exciting ticket no matter what is my initial thought.

might help bring us together. Don't think it will happen, but it would be a good sign that Clinton is going to shake things up a bit more than people think.

At least Sanders' supporters could vote for Clinton/Warren without holding both nostrils.

I don't know why I read the replies, I know I shouldn't. It's a totally fruitless endeavor that just makes me want to punch someone.

shouldn't!) but put two on it and I will worry about a President Trump.

America is just getting used to having a woman run for president, so two might be a bit too much for many to accept.

I still believe Hillary should choose Julian Castro - for the Latino vote (especially the Mexican-American vote with Mexican-Americans being the largest and fastest growing Latino faction within) and for a State we might want to add to our column...like Texas. Julian Castro is our best bet here.

I have to agree with you about two women on the ticket, even thought two MEN on the ticket has been just hunky-dory for ages. (Yes, I'm bitter.) I'd actually LOVE to see two women as President and VP, but I don't think the electorate is there yet.

On a happier note, I also agree about Castro, for many reasons including the Latino vote.

in essence she has what it takes to be POTUS in 8 years.. but, I disagree, too.

I think diversity is key.. and that would be HUD Sec Julian Castro's cue..

It would be important for the immigration issues, too.. it would bring a lot of Hispanics out to vote.. I read they are the largest number of newly registered voting bloc. And, why not.. with the racist bellowings of trump?

Besides, the Mass governor is a R and we would like be down a seat in the Senate.
