Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumWhat Does Sanders Do If Hill Wins OR?
74 delegates up for grabs in OR.
Hillary has a chance at winning what was supposed to be a strong state for Sanders. But this is another closed primary, and Sanders has yet to win a closed primary. She has a substantial lead in the latest poll.
If Hillary wins 52-48, she'll earn another 38 delegates, putting her at 2278 total delegates.
And that's not counting any delegates she'll pick up in KY, which has 61 delegates. Hillary could be within 100 delegates of the crown after Tuesday, while Sanders will still be well over 800 delegates away from the magic number of 2383...and that with only 930 delegates available after Tuesday (maybe not even that many as so many supers are already committed).
Will a victory in OR by HRC be enough to cause Sanders to finally, FINALLY call it quits?

(24,396 posts)We have a semi-open primary. You need to be registered as a D or a NPP by May 23 to vote in the D primary.

(2,348 posts)as anything but a symbol. He can't possibly claim to have any path to victory if he loses a state like Oregon. I would like to think he would take that as a sign, quiet his attacks, and concede the day after California.

(548 posts)supporter would only DOUBLE their donations to $54.00 per person they could EASILY win the remainder of the States and get MOST of Hillary's Superdelegates to jump ship to him. smh. Pitiful !!!

(30,058 posts)Reason he is still putting out the story the super delegates are going change over and got for him. If the remaining super delegates endorsed at this time she would have her required number of delegates.

(879 posts)There is absolutely no reason for him to be in the race right now. He's still here for ego reasons. The fact is that Oregon does not change the math, even if Hillary wins it. If there was any logic to his remaining in the race right now, we can look at how an unexpected would impact him.
But his approach of "can't win but am going to pretend like I am" won't change as the result of any election.
He'll complain about closed primaries (ignoring all the closed primaries and caucuses he won), and the his flock of sheep will claim fraud, send him $27 and we'll move on to the next state.

(521 posts)Well, except for Democrats Abroad. But his wins have mainly been in open/semi-closed primaries and caucuses.

(50,557 posts)Claim victory, accuse the Democratic Party of "suppressing" his candidacy, demand Hillary's Wall Street speech transcripts, pledge to stay in the race to the very last primary, and ask for more donations.

(6,999 posts)My thinking on it is that they are in flux, and are not a barometer of the primary popular vote. To me, the magic number is 2026 pledged, as it is the lynchpin to the supers cascading toward Hillary without the having to justify overriding the right-wing, rat fuckery that Bernie would need to get him to 2026 over Hillary.
Hillary is clearly the Democratic preference in nearly EVERY state. And The Revolution knows that. So does Trump, which is why he's released his Hillary Haters on the Right to join forces with Bernie's You're Not Good Enough party.
