Hillary Clinton

He was 'The One.'
He was the turning of the tide. Unfortunately, too many left the battle to him alone and even those who said they supported him in some corners, didn't give him the help he needed, a blue Congress. So much more could have been accomplished. Yet he tacked the sail of the vessel to better things, unknown to many.
I think Hillary is still hard to understand for those who don't accept patience and nuance, and prefer being sold repetitive slogans and sound bites so they don't have to think so hard... or to feel humility facing complexity. It is required to be a leader, the opposite of a demagogue.
They hated Obama for his forgiveness and tolerance and long-term strategies. But he pulled us back from the path of certain destruction Bush and a generation like him had going against this country. And handled their hatred by giving them enough rope to hang themselves that they intended to lynch him with.
Whether the Amerrican people will ever achieve what it once had, is unlikely, but he held to the faith and did it without scapegoating. Hillary has that same faith in our nation and our people, all of them. She is for the time we are in now, as things have gotten even more dangerous.
She's 'The One' for 2016.

(83,751 posts)The ebb and the flow, such beautiful sounds.
Ebb and flow (also called ebb and flood and flood drain) are two phases of the tide or any similar movement of water. The ebb is the outgoing phase, when the tide drains away from the shore; and the flow is the incoming phase when water rises again. The terms are also common in figurative use.

Ingles: "Stream of Life"
The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.
It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth in numberless blades of grass and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.
It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth and of death, in ebb and in flow.
I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.
For her 18th birthday, she made this video, announcing the creation of a charitable foundation:
There is a pattern of empowered women and girls on the way and Hillary has been a big part of it globally. I love men, yes, I do, but the patriarchy has been killing them as well, along with the planet. The human race needs to come together to survive and to thrive.

(4,309 posts)Yes, I knew Obama lacked experience in 2008. But I was so damn sick of the war in Iraq. He was my "peace candidate." And he was my pro-choice candidate. And, after 8 years of Bush, I knew this country needed a radical change to move in a more positive direction. So I voted for Obama in 2008 despite his lack of experience. For me, his first 4 years were a breath of fresh air. I liked the job he was doing so I cast my vote for him again in 2012.
This time, the choice for me is much more clear. Hillary Clinton was Obama's Secretary of State. She has the experience AND will build on the Obama legacy of progress.
Yes, she's 'The One' for 2016.
Peace, she, and thank you for that excellent post.
