Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumProof positive that Sanders supporters can be reasonable re: Nevada
So, maybe there's hope for them in November, after all....
I apologize for linking to a Sanders reddit post, but the first response (the one from a Sanders supporter named elgarduque) is worth the read. Basically, he was there, he debunks most of the nonsense claims being thrown around and lays blame where it largely belongs (as opposed to a Brock-funded fantasy) - with the Sanders supporters who either switched parties or didn't show up.
His full response is worth the read, but here's part of the summary:
"Our "win" at county was only good if all of the state delegates actually showed up so we could claim our national delegates.
But not enough people showed up. If you couldn't make it Saturday (for graduation, work, whatever) you could have registered Friday night and your vote would have counted. If you couldn't make it Friday night you could have shown up early enough on Saturday to get through the line in a timely fashion.
The bottom line I think is that a lot of people are trying to pass a lot of blame around to Hillary, the DNC, NVDems, etc. but I think none of the rest of the above matters beyond our lack of attendance."

As I said in another thread, I think (or hope, anyway) that this kind of response is likely more representative of Sanders supporters in the real world than those on DU, etc., and it gives me some hope that most of them will look at Trump vs. Clinton realistically and vote accordingly in November.
He still throws in a few "it was rigged" jabs, and admitting that not enough people showed up to "win" doesn't address the issue that Clinton already won the caucus in February, of course. The drastic difference in tone and content just struck me as compared to what passes for commentary on DU.

I find the vast majority reasonable and not representative of my experience here.

(1,183 posts)The number of Sanders supporters are Libertarian - Rand people.
The number that I have seen is 10-15%.
They are not really Sanders supporters; but, anti Clinton.
H A Good man is an obvious public example of that.

(11,619 posts)I've heard of the Libertarian connection. Some follow a lot of libertarian ideas. But I haven't seen anything definitive.

It does make sense ans Goodman does have his issues.
And, I doubt that there are enough leftists to have a real impact.
Democratic Socialists of America has less than 10,000 members.

(26,978 posts)Libertarians = government bad
Sanders = government is not only not bad, but pretty much the answer to everything
You provided the answer, of course - they're not pro-Sanders, really; they're anti-Hillary.
It makes as much sense as liberals and progressives supporting Ron Paul, the guy one conservative organization called the most conservative member of Congress in history. But, that happened, too. One of my friends bought into it so hard that he's living somewhere in Mexico supposedly growing his own food and pretending to be off the grid.

(1,183 posts)Basically, they are far more anti Clinton than they are pro Sanders.
They fear Clinton far more than Sanders.
In the GE, they would vote GOP or Libertarian.
They want Sanders to be nominated, as they figure him to lose.
Agnosticsherbet
(11,619 posts)Nearly half of the voters in the West Virginia Democratic primary who backed Bernie Sanders say they would vote for Republican Donald Trump in the fall presidential election, according to exit polls reported by CBS News.
Forty-four percent of Sanders supporters surveyed said they would rather back the presumptive GOP nominee in November, with only 23 percent saying they'd support Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton. And 31 percent said would support neither candidate in the likely general election match-up.
This statistic says a lot to me about the dynamic of the race. Because Trump has already won the nomination, people have no reason to vote for him, they can vote for the Candidate they think is the weakest in the General.
TwilightZone
(26,978 posts)It "proves" his crossover appeal. If they're voting for him in the primary, but won't vote for him in November, it quite clearly proves the opposite.

(1,183 posts)I think that is what took place.

(55,783 posts)Not all Sanders supporters are crazy, not all Sanders supporters are even Democrats. With that said when reading, one can determine what kind of Sanders supporter you are dealing with. If it happens to be one that fits into either of the above categories just ignore them, they are doing nothing but trolling to get a rise out any of us. What happens if you don't feed something? Get my point?
I was about to make this a OP here but decided to make it a post on you OP instead (I hope you don't mind).
Bottom line is we are her to discuss politics with fellow Democrats & no one else.
That's all I have to say on the subject and I hope everyone here has a great day!

(26,978 posts)That's the idea anyway. Sometimes, it's kind of hard to figure out who's who.
And other times, not so hard.
As for not feeding them, yeah, I'm pretty bad about that. Must...not...click. lol

So mad that a bunch of them didn't show up.
