D.C. mayor, most council members endorse Hillary Clinton ahead of D.C. primary

....The announcement came as no surprise because many of the city’s top leaders had already publicly pledging their support for Clinton. Bowser has used her Twitter account to publicize local Clinton campaign events. And in September, council member Jack Evans (D-Ward 2) introduced Clinton at an event at Foundry United Methodist Church and promised that he and his three daughters would be voting for her.
.....
“Hillary Clinton has long been a friend to the District, supporting full autonomy and voting representation in Congress,” D.C. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson said in a news release from the Clinton campaign. “She is also a proven national leader.”

The D.C. Democratic primary has 45 delegates up for grabs. Twenty delegates have already been pledged to Clinton. Early polling shows that Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont could hit the 15 percent threshold needed to win at least a few of the remaining delegates.

Last week, the Clinton campaign announced a D.C. team that includes two figures from her national campaign and a third who was heavily involved in her string of victories across the South. The campaign said it will open two offices in the city Monday in the 1200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE and the 1900 block of M Street NW.

and a little bird flies down from the dome to do something on the pulpit.

I would say he has a better shot at Powerball than he has at winning DC.

I could spend the rest of my life in the art galleries on the Mall. My soul is replenished when I'm in that place.

I even forgave it for hosting Bush and his criminals.

So many wonderful people and so much beauty in that city.

additional personal reasons as well as fond memories and many friends and former colleagues there. #1 Son, DIL & two grandsons live there, so I spend as much time there as I can when I am in the States. The grandsons are still young enough (5 & 7) to think that their grandmom is amazing! Who doesn't like adulation?

But yes, I love DC's "ambiance" and the people - not so much the transient politicos, but those who actually live and work there on a full-time basis.

One of my "pet" hopes is that National Airport will someday be renamed either plain "DC National" Airport or something more fitting than the abomination (IMO) it now bears. Any OTHER airport in the country perhaps, but NOT THAT one.

I love that BWI was renamed "Thurgood Marshall." It is the airport I generally choose to use whenever possible - very user-friendly IMO and much closer to my US base than either of the other "Washington" airports. I also love being greeted with "Welcome back, hon!" DC and Baltimore, although so close geographically, have entirely different "personalities" and I love them both.

We need it to be called "Washington National Airport" again.

I too prefer Thurgood Marshall (BWI) for travel. Easy to get to.

Congratulations on your wonderful family!
