The Sad Decline and Fall of Bernie Sanders

The Sad Decline and Fall of Bernie Sanders
KEVIN DRUMMAY 18, 2016 1:15 AM

So tonight's Democratic primaries basically ended in a tie. There's really nothing of interest left anymore: Hillary Clinton will win the nomination, as we've all known she would for at least the past month.

The one thing I do keep wondering about is what happened to Bernie Sanders. Before this campaign, he was a gadfly, he was a critic of the system, and he was a man of strong principles. He still is, but he's also obviously very, very bitter. I wonder if all this was worth it for him?

He honestly thinks he is the Pied Piper.

I have dealt with so many people with mental health issues over the past few years and then to have to watch it on the national stage truly pisses me off. You can't get away from it with BS, Trump, Cruz, Carly, Carson and Morning Joe ever present on the TV.

Who am I forgetting?

omg. Hasn't he been paying attention @ all?! Did he hear anything coming out of BS' mouth?

He's blaming sanders' "downfall" on Hillary? Good Grief!

All I can say it's a damn good thing Hillary has a thick skin and doesn't let BS' crap bother her one bit.. she just moves forward while he's left in the dust.

Thanks working~

I was thinking exactly the same thing. "It goes without saying"? NO! It must be said, especially after what Bernie and his supporters have been saying these past weeks. Spreading false hope, blaming Democrats and blasting Hillary.
I was an early doubter of Bernie's motives. Now I am seriously against him.
Onward to the nomination, Hillary!!!

I lost trust in his leadership ability in his statement on Nevada, he pushed harder on the DNC than the actions of supporters who caused the problem.

Drum is disappointed in Sanders' behavior of late, as we all are.
Sanders decided to burn bridges with the Democratic Party and take his fans to delusional and paranoid level of hatred for the party and Hillary. In the end, he has harmed the 'left' more than the party because no one will trust the 'left' again.

Sanders has never hidden his contempt for the Democrats, going back decades. That hatred has now been magnified by millions, which Sanders has cultivated the past year. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if Sanders takes his many followers and uses them against the DNC (both the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic National Convention). I know he said he won't run Independent, but I'm still not convinced, not when he's acting like this. He remains a loose cannon and has no loyalty to the party. I hope I'm wrong.

Everyone knows he has lost yet he keeps crowing against the Dems. He keeps making the Dem nominee spend money to fight him. The Democrats in the Senate and President Hillary Clinton will put him on a back bench and tell him to shut his pie hole. Power? Hardly. His supporters will fade to tilt at other windmills and he will relegated to the back bench and crappiest office in the Senate. We will remember him only by the ironic t-shirts that wild-eyed college students will wear as some screwed up symbol of revolution.

Good riddance Bernie. You could have made an impact but your ego got in the way.

The media tried their best to help Sanders by handling him with kid gloves.

In the end, he is not up to the job.
