Bernie Sanders, Eyeing Convention, Willing to Harm Hillary Clinton in the Homestretch

Defiant and determined to transform the Democratic Party, Senator Bernie Sanders is opening a two-month phase of his presidential campaign aimed at inflicting a heavy blow on Hillary Clinton in California and amassing enough leverage to advance his agenda at the convention in July — or even wrest the nomination from her.

Advisers to Mr. Sanders said on Wednesday that he was newly resolved to remain in the race, seeing an aggressive campaign as his only chance to pressure Democrats into making fundamental changes to how presidential primaries and debates are held in the future. They said he also held out hope of capitalizing on any late stumbles by Mrs. Clinton or any damage to her candidacy, whether by scandal or by the presumptive Republican nominee, Donald J. Trump.

After sounding subdued if not downbeat about the race for weeks, Mr. Sanders resumed a combative posture against Mrs. Clinton, demanding on Wednesday that she debate him before the June 7 primary in California and highlighting anew what he asserted were her weaknesses against Mr. Trump.

While Mr. Sanders says he does not want Mr. Trump to win in November, his advisers and allies say he is willing to do some harm to Mrs. Clinton in the shorter term if it means he can capture a majority of the 475 pledged delegates at stake in California and arrive at the Philadelphia convention with maximum political power.

3. Nothing he does or can do will win him the nomination. Nothing.

I know it's easy to believe that this will damage Democrats, but the only one Bernie is damaging is himself. No one at the convention is going to help him achieve anything if this is how he's behaving. And I think he can kiss a committee chairmanship if the Democrats retake the Senate goodbye, at this point. Hopefully a Democratic Primary challenger in Vermont emerges also, because I think Bernie needs to be challenged more forcefully going forward.

And once Bernie is out, then we can focus on the historic nomination and the general election, while Sanders slinks back to Vermont. The media is making all of this into something it is not. Sanders has no power, no leverage, and now, no integrity. What Democrats are going to want to be caught on the side of the man who endorsed violence by his supporters as Sanders did this week? Which Democrats are going to want to have to answer for that? He will influence nothing at the convention. I think the media is feeding him a lot of bullshit that inflates his ego, and he eats it right up.

And ultimately, Bernie will have to answer for his deranged rhetoric. "If Democrats are so bad, why did you run for their nomination? If Democrats are so evil, why have you caucused with them for so long now?"

And when he responds with his cynical "for money and media attention" answer, everyone will see he's nothing but sour grapes. A failed radical unwilling to self-examine to see where he went wrong, who instead blames everyone else for his failures. An unserious person, in other words.

All of this happened before in 2008, so it's not like there are no precedents here. BoB = PUMA = loud losers who influence nothing but the media. The majority of Democrats will unite, and successfully make the case against Donald Trump. By August, Bernie will be a distant memory.

11. The Bernie revolution is a hostile takeover

If Bernie can't get the nomination, which he can't, then he will bern down the party and its nominee.

I don't really know why people are surprised at this. The man has ALWAYS been hostile to the democratic party. He suckered the entire party by fooling them into believing that he would support other democrats if his bid failed. His whole entire career has been about himself only. He has never helped anyone politically as far as I know. He's only in it for himself like always.

So the party embraced the snake, welcomed it into their home and treated it nice and now it strikes like a poisonous snake does, and every one is surprised and astounded!

He is doing what he has done for decades! Who could have see it coming eh? DUH!

All the info was out there but people chose to ignore it and now the Democratic party is going to pay a high price for that. So will this country if Sanders is successful in tearing down the party and its candidate enough to allow Trump and the republicans to take over the government and pack the SCOTUS with hardcore right wingers.

I suppose there are still folks out there who thought one of Bernie's main surrogates Susan Sarandon didn't really mean it when she said it would be better for Trump to win because he will "bring the revolution".

13. I have a suggestion for the DNC

As soon as Hillary wins the last 88 or so delegates she will win next week (edit: I wish ! But whenever the next primaries are in June) have the part leaders hold a press conference and announce that Hillary is the democratic nominee, she won it fair and square , tell Bernie and his fanatics either become a true Democrat (if they ever were in the first place ) or GTFO . Don't even let those Socialist bastards anywhere near the convention, since we've already seen how crazy they acted in Nevada . This is the Democratic Party, not the damn Anarchy movement !!!
