It will not matter if California votes or even gives every single delegate to Bernie...

I've been posting this "math" for several weeks - which is obvious from Realclearpolitics and 538. Hillary will clinch before California is even called by our friends on TV.

Hillary Clinton will mathematically clinch nomination before the polls close in California

There are approximately 170 superdelegates still uncommitted. Let’s take the hypothetical scenario in which perhaps 50 of them endorse Hillary Clinton over the next three weeks. That’s entirely feasible considering that A) Hillary is now obviously going to be the nominee, and B) party leaders are growing incensed at Bernie’s increasingly divisive and threatening behavior; he already lost one of his own superdelegates yesterday because of it. That would close the gap from around 88 delegates to around 38 delegates. If she then wins four pledged delegates (out of seven available) in the Virgin Islands on June 4th, and then picks up another 34 pledged delegates (out of 60 available) in Puerto Rico on June 5th, that would put her over the top right then and there.

In the other, less aggressive scenario, let’s say she comes up short on some of the above numbers. She picks up fewer superdelegates, or she doesn’t win quite as many pledged delegates in the territories. In that case she’ll pick up enough proportional delegates in New Jersey, win or lose, when the polls close there on June 7th to put her over the top. She’ll mathematically clinch the nomination on the east coast a few hours before the polls close in California on the west coast.

So while there are too many variables to predict whether Hillary Clinton will clinch on June 5th or on June 7th, the one thing that is clear is she’ll clinch before the California results come in.
