Many of those Sanders supporters who registered as Democrats, do not identify themselves as

Democrats.

"That’s because a lot of Sanders voters don’t identify as Democrats. Exit polls have been conducted in 27 primary and caucus states so far, and Clinton has won among voters who identify as Democrats in all but Vermont, New Hampshire and Wisconsin (where she tied Sanders). But she’s won self-identified independents only in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. (I keep using that term “self-identified” because the exit poll asks voters how they “usually think of” themselves — Democrat, Republican or independent. A voter’s self-identification may differ from her party registration, and some states do not have party registration at all.)"

.....

Clinton’s reasonably strong general election numbers among self-identified Democrats — she had the support of 87 percent of Democrats in a recent NBC News/SurveyMonkey poll in her matchup against Trump,

While I don't agree with everything in Nate Silvers' analysis, I do agree with what I highlighted above

No wonder there are quite a number of threads from Sanders supporters that want open primaries, and non-Democrats to choose the Democratic nominee. They were never Democrats in the first place

I think we are talking about white, middle class libertarians.

Well, to be fair they dont really understand what the term "libertarian" means because if they did they could NEVER advocate for what Bernie advocates for, which is tuition free education, single payer, etc.

All things I advocate for which is why I support Bernie.

But I also support Hillary if need be.

4. I also think greens, and others fit into that category where they do not identify as Democrats, even

This is really simple to people who know politics.

One candidate may be disliked and not wanted (by some), the other is so dangerous that no sane person allows them to be president.

7. None of them will necessarily stay home, but they won't vote for Hillary if she is the nominee

I have seen posts of greens saying that. While that doesn't represent all greens, or libertarians, or independents, it does represent some. There are plenty of folks here who are not libertarians who will not vote for Hillary in the GE. At least that is what they say, and if you listen to what Nader has been spewing lately, everything from "trump is actually a good thing", to "how the DNC is cheating Sanders out of the nomination", I believe a significant number of greens will NOT vote for Hillary in the GE, and instead for for Jill Stein

9. Probably. We do have a real concern. Trump does equal destruction, literally.

It should be easy to beat him but this movement to destroy Hillary is a problem.

I have to laugh because I really love Bernie, and dont want to vote for Hillary (i know this is her forum, so forgive me) but the Hillary hate is so strong it has brought me to the point where I wont need a clothes pin if she wins.

I also believe there is a "number" that won't. Not sure how significant that number will be though

12. Libertarian, these days, simply means "buck the establishment". That's what it's come down

to with the Paulites and Naderites who are trying to destroy the Democratic Party. These people don't have the wherewithal to see that this only helps Republicans - or they don't care.

But WE care, and we've stopped them.

They wanted to vote in the Democratic primary, but remain Independents for what I jokingly call the street cred.

...a lot; but they don't mention that the only people 'splitting' are the ones that just joined to vote for the Sanders.
