Yes, why is it HER job?

Once again I get schooled. Privilage comes in many different many forms and if you live in the bubble you probably don't even know it. If you are lucky, someone comes along and challenges your comfort zone.

“…Perhaps that’s what’s so frustrating to detractors like NBC’s Andrea Mitchell, Joe Scarborough and Chuck Todd – no matter their negative spin or insults, they cannot break her. Secretary Clinton remains Joan of Arc in a pantsuit. Gracious and continually pushing for unity, she congratulates Senator Sanders on any win and reminds his supporters or any Conservative listening: “Even if you are not for me, I will be for you.”

Contrary to Andrea’s Mitchells fictitious contention that Hillary’s supporters lack enthusiasm, she has earned more primary votes than any candidate in primary history – both in 2008 and in 2016. Some like the unfortunate Mitchell falsely equate civility with a lack of passion. From turnout at the polls, the effectiveness of her campaign organization and many stalwart volunteers, Andrea is once again proven wrong. But she keeps collecting that paycheck so good for her, I guess.

After a year of handwringing via big media’s faux email scandal, now we have the worrywarts claiming that Hillary is “in trouble” if she does not unite the Party and “mollify” Sanders’ supporters – or appease the current “slash and burn” rhetoric emanating from Sanders himself.

Isn’t it fascinating that once again the woman is called upon to be “big mama” and make nice with everyone? What man is asked to do so?…”

Obama, she congratulated him and supported him 100%. Bernie loses to her, she has to make concessions for her to earn his support.

Clinton sues states for voter rights, Bernie sues democrats.

Sanders supporters hurling R/W talking points, and outright lies at Hillary and her supporters, she is expected to take the high road

As far as I am concerned this is just another backhanded version of sexism. Hillary has to live up to some "ideal" standard that no other candidate is asked to.

she is taking the high road. But, I do expect to hear her say "well bless his heart" pretty soon and I will LMAO when she does.

Yes, yes and yes. This also feeds into the sexism in his campaign. Certain words and phrases used by his surrogates and he doesn't condemn them. Taking days to respond to the Planned Parenthood fake videos and when he did, he addressed the "tone."

She has extended olive branches, and he has "berned" them up.

He and his FEC violations and his tax returns need to just go away.

in 2008 after she conceded and endorsed Barack Obama - campaigned with him - she brought her supporters over to Obama.

She pointed out in May 2008, 40% of her supporters said they would not vote for Obama.

Either they changed their minds - or Obama didn't need them!

Was there a threat of hostage-taking back in 2008?

McCain didn't seem like much of a threat, but when Palin was added to the ticket, most of the hold-outs saw the light.

Same thing with President Obama.. they tried .. oh they tried. Didn't happen.

After a year of handwringing via big media’s faux email scandal, now we have the worrywarts claiming that Hillary is “in trouble” if she does not unite the Party and “mollify” Sanders’ supporters – or appease the current “slash and burn” rhetoric emanating from Sanders himself

Oh, that's what she's talking about .. "Make nice.. ". LOL.. Bull!

Hillary has been gracious and she will continue to be but I don't think she's going to take anymore shite from sanders.. and she'll not do with a smile.

Today, she leads Senator Sanders by over 3 million votes, almost 300 Pledged Delegates and over 500 Super Delegates and we hear from a number of power players in the Beltway press. like Jake Tapper, Chris Cuomo and Greg Sargent, that she needs to “mollify” Sanders and his supporters.

Haha.. the BBBs have these guys all scared but not Hillary.. she's been out on the battlefield and she WON.

Actually it's sanders who needs to undue the damage he's done by demonizing Hillary.. he's needs to do some serious mollifying Not Hillary.

She's expected to be conciliatory, to make the first overtures and try to placate the same people who despise her. Does anyone recall Obama catering to Hillary in 08? She worked hard to bring her supporters with her and convince them to vote for him, and the greater majority did.

Now that she's the de facto nominee, here come the screaming runner ups, the second stringers, has-beens and wannabes, demanding that she surrender her leadership position and withdraw her ideas so they can put their schemes in place. Oh, and while she's on her knees, the Bernie Bros would like a lot more sucking up, if you please!

As all women know, we are expected to be the peacemakers, the conciliators, win or lose. In no circumstance are we to allow ourselves to dominate men, win or lose. We're expected to make nice, give concessions, smooth over hurt feelings, win or lose. Or else, we're harpies, bitches, battleaxes, harridans.

So, yes, it's not surprising that Hillary is expected to reach out to the very people who have slammed her reputation at every turn, who have accused her of being dishonest, even criminal, who have openly hoped for her to be criminally indicted for a faux scandal.

She's the front runner and will be the nominee. If the losers can't deal with that, so what? They deserve not appeasement but scorn.

It remains to be seen if Sanders will be conciliatory once the initial pain of loss wears away. For her part, I’m sure Hillary will reach out as she has always done. It is in her nature to find common ground whether we think it’s her job or not. But let’s not pretend that Clinton has “played rough” with Sanders when she has barely mentioned him these past months, instead directing her fire at the odious Donald Trump.

There is fence mending to be done, surely. Let’s see if the press remembers that a significant portion of that responsibility falls on Bernie Sanders.
