Robert Ferdman (WaPo) on Huffpo Bernie Reporter

This is the longest euphemism for lying I have ever seen http://huff.to/27Rm1nv

https://twitter.com/robferdman/status/735145581123899393

How is this (the highlighted) acceptable again?

1. Just another professional anti-"establishment" shin-kicker and of no use to people in a

reality-based world.

2. Him and Goodman both decided to write their own fantasies, since reality was crushing them.

4. There will always be a place for someone to tell people what they want to hear.

The truth is often not comfortable or pleasing so people (some, not all) prefer news or journalism that reinforces their world view.

5. Yeah, that's pretty blatant. And, he's exactly right - they've sold complete nonsense as truth

and his supporters are buying every word.

Hell, they think he's going to win 70% of California.

6. "Multidimensionality of the "Metanarrative"

In other words very similar to this quote by Mr. trump

The final key to the way I promote is bravado. I play to people's fantasies. People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That's why a little hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular.

I call it truthful hyperbole. It's an innocent form of exaggeration — and a very effective form of promotion.

http://www.snopes.com/donald-trump-lie-truth/

Or, repeat a lie often enough and you'll get some people, anyway, to believe it--as the saying is.

10. Geez Louise -- he writes like Camile Paglia and does Sanders no good

He's a fantasy writer who thinks that if he wishes for a pony long enough it will miraculously appear on his doorstep.

11. Experimental journalism aka fan fiction.

Fuck him, seriously. People posted that swill like it was the gospel truth and it was our job to refute it. Massive fail.

13. Experimental Journalism?

How is that different from: "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."

Joseph Goebbels

14. Isn't HuffPo now one of the most corporatist of all corporate media?

Which multinational conglomerate owns them now?

I mean, I know the authors there have to be a little whacked already, to be writing for a corporation for free and all, but still, even a modicum of self-awareness would be appreciated

15. I want whatever he is smoking!

That guy is so full of shite the whites of his eyes just turned brown!

He said that seeing the truth is boring and depressing so we should vote for a metamodern thought experiment named Bernie Sanders because universal wavelength function means that anything is possible! And then he name-drops David Foster Wallace, who would have been nauseated by the tortured mess he just published.

"I’ve been a metamodernist creative writer for many years now, but had not seen an opportunity to bring this earnest, optimistic, and loving art practice into my professional writing activities until Bernie Sanders came along." AKA "I have just been making shit up all along and y'all have been silly enough to buy it"

Which in all fairness is what pundits do all the time anyway.

So when is HA Goodman going to 'fess up to his hallucinatory, post-postmodern confabulations?

20. Aside from the other crap in this OP, I am always amazed that Hillary is

lambasted by males for having the audacity to actually aspire to be President...as Mr. Ferdman puts it "since that moment in the 1990's when Hillary Clinton decided she would become President." Gee, Mr. Ferdman, how very uppity of her. So much for telling children in this country that anyone can grow up to be president. Of course, if you don't have a penis, that ambition will be held against you and used by political hacks to equate any dream you might have (to hold an office that only men have held for hundreds of years) as evidence that you are...what? Ambitious? Hardworking? A Dreamer? Want to lead and improve our country? Feel you could be a positive force for the USA? What a sexist double standard. Right up there with Ferdman's ridiculous mega-sentence about why it is ok to lie about a failed campaign and basically create his own "reality".
