(1,197 posts)Caucuses are hard to get to for many, there is no parking many places. Once there they stand and wait for awhile before things get going and people realize how things work. I wish they'd do away with them. Because of the caucuses, the most delegates for Washington will go to Bernie, but Hillary is the choice of the voters. Minnesota has the right idea. Can the caucuses.

(2,897 posts)They need one for the other offices and they have to have a candidate on the ballot.
It's also mail-in like Oregon.
Turnout is about 3 times that the caucus too.

According to Nate Cohn (NYT stat guy, who replaced 538-Nate) there are 96k votes uncounted tonight, and more to come, since they could be postmarked as late as today.
Also according to Nate C, this is now the largest turnout in any of the other May contests. (https://twitter.com/Nate_Cohn/status/735321465629872128)

Total caucus involvement was 230,000 people. That tells you something right there. The results are very different when you get to actually vote.

Also why the SD's have no reason to "flip". I don't get Sanders thinking on that at all.

WASHINGTON (AP) Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton and presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump each won primaries in Washington state.
.........................
Sanders trails Hillary Clinton in the delegate count and he is running out of contests in his longshot bid to catch up.
Clinton is just 78 delegates short of clinching the Democratic nomination for president. She is on track to do so in early June, even if she loses all the remaining contests.
Clinton has 1,768 pledged delegates won in primaries and caucuses. Sanders has 1,497.
Clinton's lead is even bigger when superdelegate endorsements are included. These are the party leaders and elected officials who can support the candidate of their choice.
Overall, Clinton has 2,305 delegates and Sanders has 1,539. It takes 2,383 delegates to win the Democratic nomination.

(67,782 posts)....the caucus, during which voters are constantly badgered, berated, and cajoled went to Sanders by 45%. Says a lot about the "honesty" and integrity of caucuses, doesn't it.
