He knows that he will NOT be the nominee.

He also knows that won’t change by his debating Trump before the California primary.

He also knows that it would help Trump and do nothing to support the Democratic cause.

If Bernie really believed that he would be the nominee he would agree to debate Trump AFTER the convention. Debating Trump now would signal nothing more than a vengeful willingness to scuttle Hillary.

Bernie knows.

They have internal polls that shows the hill he has to climb in CA. Hell, he has all but forgotten about New Jersey, a state that he has to do well in as well.

The most telling part is the DNC platform committee compromise. He took less spots than Clinton. No one who thinks that they will win is going to do that.
