My biggest regret when Hillary is nominated

is that Bernie will never get the vetting he deserves.

I have many good and noble friends who are Bernie enthusiasts who will never have their eyes opened. They will go through the rest of this election seething about their loss without ever understanding the true character of their preferred nominee.

They will never have the dubious joy of seeing their preferred nominee ripped open - excoriated in every branch of the media. They will never get to experience watching their candidate's every decision, every utterance, every act back to his teenage days be shrieked about on a 24/7 loop.

The RW noise machine wouldn't even have to make up lies. Bernie's political and personal history is rife with juicy opportunities to bludgeon him to political death. By election day Trump could actually look like the more reasonable option to most voters!

I don't actually regret that part. I mean, I don't actually regret that I will not see Bernie torn down to the point that Trump wins the election.

What I regret, is that for the lack of being exposed for what he is, my friends will be able to maintain the illusion that somehow Bernie coulda, woulda, shoulda been better than what we got, without realizing that what we got is a candidate and President to be proud of.

2. I don't think I'd wish what Hillary has gone through on anyone. Well, maybe Donald Trump

But not Bernie Sanders. I don't think it would really serve much of a purpose, and if it's unfair to her (and it quite certainly is), it would be unfair to him in many of the same ways.

That's not saying it wouldn't have happened had he won the nomination - it most certainly would have.

And, I agree that this lack of vetting will allow his most rabid supporters to continue the illusion, but I'm not sure it really matters in the end. The only thing it might do is just what you noted - help them realize that Hillary is a better candidate than they might have given her credit for and she actually stands for (and has stood for, for decades) a lot of the things they profess to believe in.

6. You're right. Once she wins the nomination they won't have to release their tax returns....

...my guess is that was their plan all along. I've seen discussions about how all their advertising spends have been done through a media company that Jane either owns or works for. The commissions on those large spends (more than $100M, maybe approaching $200M?) is in the order of 15%. That's $15M commissions, or even up to $30M if their spend is $200M.

It would be a huge embarrassment to reveal that to the people who have been scraping up contributions $27 at a time.

9. I think most of it went through Devine, Mulvey and Longabaugh

The "Devine" being Tad. $800k in March alone. If we assume that's just the commission and the ad money went to the media corps, that's $5m+ in ads funneled through DML just in March. That's just conjecture, though - other than the $800k, I don't have any actual basis for it.

I haven't seen a connection between DML and either Sanders, but that doesn't mean one doesn't exist. It could also have something to do with either the toxic waste compact or her buyout from Burlington. Both are news now though, so it wouldn't be particularly embarrassing if either is the reason for the delay.

I think they just know it's over, so no point in releasing them now.

11. It's registered to a guy in Virginia with links to other media companies, including one Jane used.

It also has links to Devine before he started his current firm.

It's basically a front for Canal Media Partners, but they're not sure why CMP isn't just representing Sanders directly. Maybe he wanted it hidden behind an "unknown" to keep his anti-corporate street cred intact.

Edit: "it is unclear why OTM exists other than to hide either Shelli Hutton-Hartig and/or Canal Media Partners’ involvement as the primary ad-buyer for Bernie 2016"

.. and I think that relates to the deconstructing of why his campaign Failed.

Perhaps some background exposed that Sanders has tried to hide.. and what about those tax returns, mrs BS?

Here's to BS getting the Karma he deserves and more people than not realizing the real burnie sanders.

Thank you for this, needledriver.
