Yes, I do want a female President and I am not ashamed of it (HRC GROUP)

I will be voting for Hillary Clinton mainly because I agree with her agenda. Secondly, because she is the most experienced and qualified candidate. Third, because she knows how to get things done. Lastly, to me, it really is time to have a woman President. The time is right. With LGBT rights a huge issue, with equal pay for women STILL an issue, with abortion and contraceptive rights under attack all over this country, with the threat of a sexist hate-monger like Trump getting elected? I'm voting for Hillary. The time is right for a woman President. Especially one with experience and an excellent record. She will bring a unique perspective to the office. I am VERY MUCH looking forward to it!

Life is short, and change moves slowly. To think I have the chance to vote for the first black POTUS AND a first woman POTUS is amazing to me. That they are both wonderful choices is a true bonus.

is needed and not which gender is favored.

There is plenty of time to elect a female president; not just do it because she is the only female in the ring.

Are you claiming that they were all elected because they were "the best person for the job"?

If you really believe that, you have a very low opinion of women, indeed. What are you even doing in this forum?

It's sickening that the one time a woman has a real chance to be president, people have the nerve to suggest that if she is elected, it will be because she's a woman, and that she is not "the best person for the job". Because, of course, the "best person for the job" is always a man. And those 44 men never benefited from any kind of sexist privilege. It's when we have a woman winning that suddenly she is seen to be benefiting from sexist privilege. Because, of course, sexism favors women.

Her gender is very low on the list of why we want her elected. Several people told you that and you chose to ignore their answers. This is the Hillary Group, we are not a forum. This is our safe haven.

Please respect the rules of the groups, if you don't know them look them up. I am a host and do not appreciate your comments here. Keep it up and you will be blocked.

They're only attuned to headlines, memes, and soundbites. That's why Sanders' simple platform appeals to them. You know, no big words or complex issues. Thus, they can't comprehend that there can be more than one factor for liking a candidate.

Most of Hillary's supporters (including me and the OP) think she's first and foremost the best candidate (perhaps overqualified, especially when compared to both Trump and Sanders), and we agree with her agenda. Her being a woman and on the verge of making history is just gravy. I'm willing to bet that Boldine didn't actually read kath1's post, just the subject headline, and responded accordingly, making a fool of him-/herself in the process.

being so trite with the "BernieBros" line and the churlishness that follows.

While I agree "it really is time to have a woman President", I don't agree that Hillary is the right woman for the job. Hillary does have experience, but she also has a lot of baggage and to be president you should be be a leader, a great listener, be able to not only moderate discussion and contribute even when it is not in your favor. As president compromise is vital, you need to put aside one's prejudices, ignore requests for favors, etc. And I don't see Hillary having these traits.

I'll admit, as a female of a certain age (I can see 60 from my house) it's a big issue. It's time.
I used to work with some Republicans who of course discussed politics at work all day and they were dripping with disdain over HRC and Nancy Pelosi. So obvious that a huge part of their sneering dismissal of these women was the fact that they were, indeed, women who dared to have power and use it.
Whenever my RWNJ "friends" on FB post their anti-HRC crap it somehow always mentions her "cankles" or other sexist bullshit. (Somehow Trump is never criticized for the spray tan or combover!) Always a reminder that in their shallow world, a woman's worth is only in her
looks. And HRC is beautiful, inside and out.
I want the world to be above this garbage once and for all, too late for me but for my little granddaughter. I can't wait to tell her that for the first time a lady, just like her, is going to be President of the United States.
I truly hope that HRC can finally achieve passage of the ERA. She can be a living reminder that the POTUS does not have equal rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

Just being alive in this country while a woman like Hillary Clinton is president will be something! Even if it's just psychological, it's still a benefit. There is a certain dignity to being a member of a group that is no longer excluded from the highest office in the land. Currently, we women don't have that dignity. We live in a society that cannot stand the idea of giving that much power to a woman. Hopefully all that will change in November.
