I was going to post this in GDP but decided not to. I think the BS folks have a lot of stuff to digest right now. It is heartbreaking to see what is happening with his campaign. I am really disappointed because I, for one, believed in Sanders and really was hoping he would be the one to lead the way for reform---despite the nonsense spewed daily here on DU. And to watch his candidacy spiral down like this just reminds me how treacherous power can be. It takes down the best of us. He is not the one.
"Many including me have consistently given Bernie Sanders the credit for fighting for what he believes in and suggesting he should decide on his own when to leave the race. We gave him credit for beginning his campaign with grace and purpose as I did in a recent column. Unfortunately he is choosing to end it as a boor more concerned with boosting his own ego than with moving forward the issues he espoused.
Presidential primaries are not new. Bernie Sanders knew all the rules when he asked to enter the Democratic Party primaries even though he never registered as a Democrat. The Party graciously invited him to do so. While many thought he wouldnt do as well as he has all credit for that goes to him and the issues he has talked about. His mantra of single-payer health care, bringing down Wall Street, and free college caught on with young people and they came out to his rallies by the thousands.
What he soon found out even with his big rallies is most people who vote in Democratic primaries want a candidate who is versed in a much broader spectrum of issues. They understand the President of the United States is also the leader of the free world and must speak to a broader audience here and around the world. Very left-leaning Democratic primary voters alone cant elect a candidate in the general election. Those who understood that voted for Hillary Clinton which is why she has over 3 million more votes than he does.
Bernies campaign made many mistakes. The biggest being while he knew the rules he forgot to tell his supporters what they were. Instead of blaming himself he now blames the Democratic Party for his mistakes. His own senior advisor helped create the superdelegate system. He knew which primaries were open, where anyone can vote; or closed where only registered Democrats can vote. He didnt think it important to tell any of the people who came out to his rallies about that."

He needs to stop with the bashing/blaming and show some grace.

(25,111 posts)that he was cheated out of; favoritism; victimhood; blame game; hatred towards the DNC, DWC, and HRC, et al.
Every win that HRC got it was because of the ignorance of POC (especially Blacks), or because Dems cheated or it was rigged and all of the previously mentioned.
BS' surrogates are unbearable. This campaign spoke persons are unbearable. Instead of, as promised by his campaign, they went 24/7 negative on HRC, DWS, DNC, Democratic Party and any one who supported HRC.

(7,963 posts)It doesn't surprise me that the campaign is where it is at. When I started tuning out (and mind you, I was one of his supporters), I knew his campaign shifted for the worse. But they were too busy frothing at the mouth and couldn't see what they were doing to their own campaign.
I posted a thread in GDP that got locked. I couldn't get to it in time to respond but, I would have told some that while I can appreciate them bringing up the issues they have with HRC, it is HOW things are brought up and said that I don't like. The shrillness leaves no room for rational discussion. It just becomes who can snark better.
And at some point, they lost compete perspective. They became the same rabid people I despise from the right.
And as this article points out, they should have known that a homogenous base does not win elections. That was a big red flag for then that they rah-rahed around going that it was just the MSM distorting things against them.

(24,396 posts)2015. They got in to act as gadflies, to spout off on what can only be seen as radical positions, tweaking the establishment along the way and enhancing their personal brand for the future.
We're now witnessing what happens when two "not ready for prime time" players somehow stumble beyond expectations and their own very limited comfort zones. Both are failing tremendously in the public arena. Were it not for the media propping them up (for no other reason than to keep the ad dollars flowing their way) they would long ago have disappeared from this year's news cycle.
At least Sanders will be gone in nine days. We'll need to suffer through the media validating Trump until November.
