This is really depressing. The positive view is that people haven't starting thinking about the details yet.
Trump also leads on being best able to handle terrorism and national security, 50% to 46%.

(880 posts)What is the typical voter identification in a general election? I noticed this Reuters poll sampled 40% Democrats to 27% Repubs.
savalez
(3,517 posts)36% Dem Likely Voter and 29% Rep Likely Voter. Or 44% Dem and 35% Rep without the Likely Voter filter.
I don't know what is typical voter identification.

(880 posts)Under " party identification" it shows:
Democrats 40%
Republicans 27%

(880 posts)It looks as if the pollsters are expecting around a double digit lead for Democrats over Repukes in regards who turns out to vote in Novemeber. THIS IS GREAT NEWS!

(115 posts)A lot of polls tend to oversample white men, who are Hillary's weakest demographic.
If you look at the Dem primary race, the polls all summer long last year had her in the 56 to 60 percent range and thats exactly where she is with the actual votes.
Of course, much drama has been manufactured with some shoddy polls showing her tied with SBS or Trump to feed the media's horse race narrative.

(36,299 posts)It's early in the campaign and any Repub generally leads any Democrat in the areas mentioned (handling terrorism & national security, economy). My guess is that this will change during the course of the campaign as hillary shows she's prepared while Trump exposes himself to be a not ready for prime time player.
