Democratic insiders to Bernie: Win California or get out

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/06/democratic-insiders-to-bernie-win-california-or-get-out-223850

'If Bernie Sanders stays in the race after losing California, he will be remembered not as a successful champion of progressive ideals but instead as just another narcissistic politician,' said one insider.

If Bernie Sanders fails to win the California primary next Tuesday, he should immediately end his long-shot campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination, even before the voting concludes the following week in the District of Columbia.

That’s according to Democratic members of The POLITICO Caucus — a panel of activists, strategists and operatives in 10 key battleground states — nearly 80 percent of whom said that a loss in California, combined with Hillary Clinton’s virtually insurmountable delegate advantage, would represent the end of the road for Sanders. Only 21 percent said Sanders should take his campaign to the District’s June 14 primary.

“This race has been over for a long time. It's time for Bernie to prove that he is really a Democrat by getting out of the race and enthusiastically endorsing Hillary Clinton,” said a Florida Democrat, who, like all respondents, completed the survey anonymously. “The stakes are too high for Bernie to continue to pretend he has a chance.”

AND get out. There's no way he's pulling 70% of the state, which is what he'll need after PR and NJ.

Really, win or lose, it's over...so why the false ultimatum?

Zakaria on CNN used that word yesterday: crucial. I get it's his job to keep up the suspense, but suspending reality to do it is so annoying! She wins with NJ. She won long ago by any rubric.

How anyone can so completely discount the vast majority of states that already chose her is wildly undemocratic, and un-Democratic!

It's just so much noise.

I think most sane people will be voting for Hillary in November. She should do very well without the small percentage of Bernie supporters who can't figure what to do without his help.

Sanders should suspend his campaign. no one believes that he cares about our Democratic Party anymore his fading away. …he needs to grow up

He's shown he's adept at attacking the Democratic Party, President Obama, Hillary Clinton and all Democrats of note, and he's also proven that he can be a good ally to the GOP and NRA, but now that he's chosen to run under the Democratic banner, it's HIGH TIME for him to show he's actually a Democrat.

Win or lose California, it's time for Sanders to either bow out gracefully or tone down the attacks on Democrats and our Party and focus on attacking the true enemy: Trump's GOP.

Going forward, after next Tuesday, Clinton supporters should just refuse to acknowledge his existence.

"Bernie who?" is going to be my response to those pretending he's still relevant.

and won't drop out before June 15th.

Similar to the directive on this site, after losing California he'll be given one week to "get it out of his system" then after the last primary on the 14th he'll be given just one.more.day.

Then, he'll find loopholes in the rules by issuing backhanded compliments to the nominee disguised as "helpful suggestions".
