Donald Trump seems stunned to learn that his running mate Mike Pence voted for the Iraq War (HRC GP)

Donald Trump and Mike Pence spent their 60 Minutes interview this evening trying to figure out which of them could more clearly telegraph that they didn’t want to be sitting next to each other, as the arranged marriage of a 2016 Republican ticket continues to look more awkward by the hour. Trump didn’t seem to trust Pence to answer a single question, jumping in repeatedly and interrupting him. And Pence, for his part, was caught laughing at Trump’s dumb answers at more than one inappropriate moment.

But the lowest point of the interview may have been the stunning revelation that Donald Trump didn’t appear to know that Mike Pence voted in favor of the Iraq War while he was serving in the United States House of Representatives. Trump has spent much of his campaign insisting that the war was a mistake, laying the blame at the feet of former President George W. Bush while facing off against his brother Jeb Bush in the Republican primary race. Now that Trump has reached the general election, he has repeatedly criticized Hillary Clinton for having voted for the Iraq War while she was in the Senate, something she has since stated that she regrets.

But Donald Trump appeared to be caught off guard when 60 Minutes interview Leslie Stahl informed him that Mike Pence had also voted for the Iraq War. “I don’t care,” Trump defiantly blurted out, in a scene which felt like it was straight out of the movie The Fugitive. And so now Trump can no longer use his opposition to the Iraq War as a campaign issue, now that he’s picked a running mate who voted in favor of it. As per usual in this campaign, it appears Trump simply didn’t do his homework before making the Pence pick. No wonder he tried so hard to get out of it.

if you'll never be president - like Pence and, well, Trump - but that you're not allowed to make mistakes if there's a 90% chance you'll be president, like Hillary.

I can't imagine how he'll rehabilitate his image; he'll be persona non grata, for sure.

He'll go down as a huge stain on American history, and he'll (rightfully ) drag his supporters down with him. I've never seen a bigger bunch of cowards.

be the only one after which the nominee's polling numbers go down? Like a reverse "bump"? I hope so! Seeing Trump and Pence together is just...weird. They look like the horrible cousin I hated as a kid and me forced to sit next to each other at the dinner table.

the donald said he would declare war on ISIS, but not use ground troops. Instead he would involve surrounding countries and make NATO get involved. Oh, and we would have "unbelievable intelligence" (I think those were the actual words) because supposedly we have none now.

It is so very disturbing that M$M is giving him unquestioned air time.
