Here's how President Obama's Ohio return can help Hillary Clinton and Ted Strickland

COLUMBUS, Ohio – President Barack Obama is back on familiar political ground.

His speech here Thursday at an Ohio Democratic Party fundraising dinner kicked off two days of politicking in an important swing state that he carried in both of his White House bids.

For Obama, this is part farewell tour, part passing-of-the-torch to Hillary Clinton, his former secretary of state and would-be-successor. The outgoing commander-in-chief will conclude his trip Friday in Cleveland, with a Clinton campaign rally at Burke Lakefront Airport.

Obama's visit stands out at this point in the election season calendar because ...

1. It evoked nostalgia.

And a good article from the Plain Dealer. Too bad local Cleveland TV news dropped the ball (channel will remain nameless). See, the Indians were playing Toronto in ALCS and tourists from Toronto were in town!!!! And one of the Indians pitchers hurt his hand on his drone. And, and there was an explosion someplace ... And, and DONALD TRUMP was appearing in Colorado and finally 10 minutes into the newscast, the broadcast personalities mentioned that oh, yeah, the president was in town campaigning for Hillary.

It looks like it was an amazing crowd, and I found some clips so I could listen to what our president had to say. The race is still too close in Ohio, and irresponsible news coverage like I see regularly on broadcast media has a lot to do with it.

But for good news, the ground campaign where I live is working very, very hard to GOTV. Early voting has begun!
