On March 3rd.

There is going to be a who's who of women leaders at this event. What better place to announce?
On a side note. I had posted in another thread regarding Netanyahu's speech before Congress (which will also be on March 3rd) about who can knock him off the headlines - our gal Hillary announcing she is running for President.

(135,425 posts)Her announcement will be a stand-alone event. It may not happen until late spring or even early summer--there's really no hurry.
This is a good opportunity to articulate her views on a variety of issues important to women and all people, though.

(4,309 posts)This will be a great forum for her to lay some important groundwork for her views.

(60,109 posts)She has been close to Emily's List for years. I was at one of their annual gatherings in Washington 9 years ago, met lots of women who did indeed go on to be members of Congress (Sens. Cantwell, McCaskill, Klobuchar, Rep. Tammy Duckworth, etc.). After the big event, the "elite" of Emily's List (of which I am not a part) went on to some private dinner with Hillary, who was then a Senator. My daughter was an intern for them at the time, so I got to hang around "on the inside" that year. One of the most frequent visits by a sitting Senator was from then-Senator Barack Obama. That is where I met him for the first time. Howard used to stop by on occasion, too, but Obama was, according to my daughter, the male senator who was there most often.
*on edit--right around that time, we did meet up for the first time:

(60,109 posts)Hillary was pretty cool about it. I got the feeling it wasn't the first time for her.
Years before I even met her, while Bill was still in office, she was supposed to spend 5 minutes with my parents for some reason or other at the White House. They clicked right away, and she told her staff to push everything else back so she could have half an hour with them.

(60,109 posts)Someone that comes across so well on a one to one basis having such a difficult time projecting the same impression to a crowd. Usually it's the other way around (e.g. Alan Grayson or even Ronald Reagan).
As for being highly intelligent, the only ones who ever doubted THAT were on a level with Louie Gohmert.

(60,109 posts)The texts are often inspiring, but I found her delivery off. Of course, Bill and Barack are tough acts to follow. But if you want the Oval Office, you had better be able to follow both of them, considering the media circus the Presidential campaigns have become..

(36,975 posts)I'm sure she will get it in spades!

By the time the 2008 campaign came along, he certainly DID know what he was doing, but as DNC chairman, he was prevented (probably to his relief) from taking sides in the primaries. He is now under no such restriction.
Hillary has now also been through the wringer once. IF she runs, and hasn't learned from her mistakes in 2008, she deserves to lose. If she runs and HAS learned from her previous mistakes, she will be tough to beat, no matter whether that comes as good news or bad.

(318,713 posts)it's going to be Netanyahu's speech to Congress that will be sucking all the air. Perhaps for days, etc.
It's should be most interesting though to see who all is there besides Hillary..

Yes, thank Christ, Allah, Buddha or whatever that we have a President who believes in diplomacy rather than rushing to bombing and war.

(36,975 posts)Choice and women's rights in general have always been front and foremost with Hillary. I remember when she was First Lady how she smacked down the Chinese government for it's abuse of women and girls.
She looks beautiful in those pics btw!
