(3,111 posts)Hillary supporter or Sanders supporter, if there are not more debates, the spirit will be out of the Democratic Party, as more and more people weigh in on the perceived inequality in the process for those less well-known.
What is the purpose of 6 debates and penalties for any more?
High principles work. Low principles lose, in the end, sometime, some day. And that may come back to haunt any victor in what is perceived as a rigged nomination.
Just as Sanders supporters should be respectful of Hillary supporters and their feelings.
We all need each other in the end, if this is to be a Democratic victory.
But why can't the process appear to be more democratic? It can, if we all call for it. And I would suggest that Hilary supporters should join in on the cry, including Hillary herself.
More debates, more exposure, more press, more chance to practice the art of debating when that skill will be needed in the general, more testing of ideas and personalities, more everything.
We need more debates and they need to be perceived to be fair and equal to all parties.

(297,655 posts)Hillary's Group and we're here to support her.
And, sorry this group isn't for someone who doesn't know her positions to come into and tell her what she "should" do.
She's got it covered from September 5th.
"Speaking to reporters after a campaign event Saturday, Mrs. Clinton said: I debated a lot in 2008, and I would certainly be there with lots of enthusiasm and energy if they decide to add more debates. And I think thats the message that a lot of people are sending their way.

(3,111 posts)I surely did know that. And I also know that is not enough.
If Hilary wants the support of the Democrats who think more debates are the only way to go, she should explicitly ask for them. Then the debates would happen.
If she really wants the support of Democrats everywhere, I am suggesting she should be careful of this appearing to be a rigged game. Because some folks not only like Bernie and his positions, they are simply crazy over the top for them. If thwarted by an unfair process, they very well may not turn out next year. That would be a disaster, like the disasters the DNC has already orchestrated the past few elections through the same leadership.
My post was an appeal to Hillary supporters to get on the side of this that is more likely to lead to a unified Democratic Party next year.
Now, if the belief is that she simply cannot win that way, that is another story. But that is not my belief.
Why not have more free and fair debates like most commentators are saying makes far more sense than the current limited schedule at odd times?

(297,655 posts)Hillary and everyone else what's what.
Hillary has this covered. She knows what's she's doing. Those who threaten not to vote next year never were going to vote in the first place.. it's all about them.. they don't give a shite about our Planet or our Country.
No one is "rigging the game".. those are just accusations coming from those who don't know what they're talking about.

Cha
(297,655 posts)made her view strongly known that she's open for more debates.
We'll see if there are more.. but, these threats against "not voting because of a perception that the system is being rigged" ring hollow.
Anyone who threatens not to vote can just sit home on Election Day and we'll do the work and GOTV.. just like always.

(67,782 posts).....and support Hillary Clinton (and watch her dance!).
NECN did a great job covering the Convention, with a video feed from start to finish.
Here's a quote of their wrapup:
"By the sounds of the crowd, you'd never know that Hillary Clinton is trailing Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in the Granite State. Drawing some of the biggest cheers of the day were Clinton's jabs at the GOP after Wednesday's debate."
