Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumHillary Surges in Reuters Tracking Poll
Here's a chart showing the preferences of likely Democratic primary voters over the past couple of months in the Reuters online poll. As of Friday October 2nd, it's Clinton 58%, Biden 19% and Sanders 17%. You read that right: a whopping 39-point lead over her nearest competitor.
As you can see, it's generally been fairly stable...but not always. For instance, notice the slow and steady Sanders surge around mid-September? That was about the time that Quinnipiac came out with their much-publicized poll which showed Bernie leading Hillary by one point in Iowa and the general "Hillary Doom" theme was reaching its apex in the media.
Now check out the huge one-day spike towards the end for Clinton. That was on Wednesday September 30th. Something to keep in mind is that this is a five-day rolling average poll...so it seems as if something particularly dramatic might have happened right around then. What could it have been?
It just so happens that last Wednesday was when the Kevin McCarthy thing really blew up after his nationwide admission the night before about the purely political nature of the Benghazi committee. And it looks like Democrats noticed big time.
It should also be noted that this past weekend, which included the very widely-viewed SNL appearance which capped off her best week ever, is not yet registered in this poll. So no one should be surprised if Hillary's support in the polls goes even higher in the coming days. ... http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/10/05/1428047/-Hillary-Surges-in-Reuters-Tracking-Poll

(7,391 posts)Really? Because those people are going to be really effing important after the primaries.
I don't like it when Bernie supporters do it, and I don't like it when Hillary supporters do it.
Tribalism. Pure, ugly tribalism. Stop. Report your news, register your joy, but please don't grave-dance. It hurts all of us.

(28,270 posts)Meanwhile the other 95% Bernie backers here slam us with every right wing talking point they can find 24/7
But hey, thanks sooo much for your concern.

(7,391 posts)I just hate all this fucking primary vitriol. Makes us all look FUCKING STUPID.
FYI -- I posted a few months back that Bernie backers who vilified Hillary were making me want to vote for Hillary, and oh boy did the nasty mean-mouths come out. I learned right away that some people have put all of their mental illness behind Bernie's candidacy, and that they love him more than anyone, especially you, and that you can't like Bernie without hating Hillary.
So I took some flame there, and now I don't bother.
So, yeah, you're right. I shouldn't bother. The condescending asinine elementary-school snark dripping from every bitter partisan is just going to happen, and I should STAY OUT OF THE WAY.
Point taken. And if this enraged infighting elects Trump then that's just how stupid we all are, as a population, and that's how this whole story will end, and that's just that. Pathetic calls for civility are useless, because once one Bernie or Hillary backer dives into the swamp, everyone else points to them as their reason for diving into the swamp. And if that first swamp-diver just happens to be a Rove Ratfucker, it matters not. He or she was just throwing some gasoline on the pilot light. Jagshemash! Great Rovian Ratfuck Success!
No one's going to listen to calls for civility at this point. Maybe not ever. Maybe civility is stupid. Funny thing, though, Bernie and Hillary are still good friends. Utterly civil to each other. Weird.
I feel like I'm living in the fucking Dark Ages.
I bet I am.

Hillary Surges in Reuters Tracking Poll
Or, as Reuters themselves put it: Sanders can't break through against Clinton.

Nobody where I'm from is for him winning the nomination, except the Republicans (for obvious reasons).

(66 posts)I like both of them a lot but the Hillary hate on a Dem site is crazy.
We should support the person we like best but shouldn't beat up on our own party people.
The hate against Hillary on this site is bad. We are doing the job for the republicans. I even seen people using conservative sites to prove points against her. We need to defend both against the republican attacks. Let the best person win and support them!
The truth is Hillary is going to win and that's not a bad thing. Its good. Even if you rather have Bern its still good to have Hillary win.

(296,829 posts)her if she's the nominee?
People died for the right to vote and you're on a Democratic board bragging you won't be voting next year and telling everyone else not to, either?! Shame on you.

(687 posts)In September 2007 approx 16 weeks before Iowa Caucus Hillary held a 41.8 to 23 lead over Barack.
In November 2007 approx eight weeks before the Iowa Caucus Hillary increased that lead to 46 to 23 over Barack.
Jan 1, 2008 two days before the Iowa Caucus Hillary led 44.2 to 25 over Barack.
How did she not win the primary if as you seem to indicate it's all about leading in the polls?
Polls are about name recognition and Polls are nation wide. What matters is who's leading in Iowa and New Hampshire.
Iowa Poll Oct, 2015 with Biden / without Biden
Clinton 33, Sanders 28, Biden 22 / Clinton 47, Sanders 36
New Hampshire Sept, 2015
Sanders 42, Clinton 28, Biden 18
Note that in June, 2015 Clinton was leading Sanders by nearly 20 points and after 3 months Sanders now holds a 14 point lead.
The more people see and hear Bernie the more he moves up in the polls.

(296,829 posts)is talk.. the more they know Hillary is the best choice.
That's why she gets all the Congressional Endorsements. They've worked with both of them.
That was then.. this is now. Bernie's no Barack Obama.

(31,221 posts)Per this poll, there's a lot of affection & admiration for PBO, despite BS & his supporters. Check out the top concern "Among Dems"/Dem Leaners".
There's a reason why so many of us want someone who we can trust to continue & build on Obama's achievements. So you're right, BS is no Barack Obama, and he'll find that out in pretty short order.

(31,221 posts)IA & NH (90%+ Caucasian) won't select this party's nominee. Trust me on that. That will be a task for ALL of us, and that includes blacks & latinos where Hillary dominates. In the South, it's like Bernie Who? Time won't fix that.
