Clinton vs. Sanders divide and Democratic unity.

Here's a poll that reflects a more realistic picture of the Hillary/Bernie divide among the Democratic party as a whole. Too often, I think we DUers lose sight of the fact that we do not necessarily represent the rank and file very well. Most of us are way too lefty. I do not say this as a criticism....I'm an old 60"s hippie myself.

Sanders Voters OK with Clinton as 2nd Choice

Politico's Nick Gass reports on an interesting new poll which suggests substantial party unity among Democratic registered voters:

According to the results of the latest national Monmouth University poll out Wednesday, 59 percent of those backing Sanders for the nomination said they would be enthusiastic or satisfied with Clinton as their party's standard bearer next November. Overall, 80 percent of Democratic voters would be fine with Clinton as their nominee, while 11 percent said they would be dissatisfied and 5 percent said they would be upset.
Gass adds that Clinton still has a formidable lead over Sen. Sanders, 59 percent to 26 percent, while former MD Gov. Martin O'Malley increased his share to 4 percent, with 8 percent undecided. The poll had a small sample (374 self i.d. Demi/Independents), so all conclusions drawn from it should be considered in light of the 5.1 m.o.e.

Debates between Clinton, Sanders and O'Malley have thus far been remarkably free of the insults and put-downs which have characterized the G.O.P.'s demolition derby. While supporters of all three candidates still argue passionately for their respective candidates, internecine acrimony has remained extraordinarily low-key, compared to previous Democratic primary seasons.

U.S. Democrats are still a long way from the level of solidarity recently demonstrated by the French left, which pulled some Socialist candidates out of recent regional elections in order to cross lines and defeat nativist leader Marine Le Pen and the Front National. But perhaps we can hope that the stirrings of greater Democratic solidarity have begun, even if it is based on the shared realization that the Republicans are flirting with equally-dangerous forms of nativist bigotry and repression.

After all, the REAL enemy is any republican running for the other side......YIKES!

1. We need the Democratic Party to step up!

We need to take back the Senate, the House, the Supreme Court, state governorships, state legislatures, elected judgeships and state Supreme Courts; get local on mayors and councils, even local and state school boards.

This requires an active Democratic political party.

The Republicans and Koch Brothers do it! This is how they gerrymandered a minority party into power!

This fight is not just those two presidential candidates.

Hillary supporters know, "That's a fact!"

Senator Sanders (I-VT) supporters - he is, after all, a DINO - have to be "polled."

Just sayin'...

We need to be LOUDER and CLEARER in stating what our beliefs are. If we were, we'd win in a landslide, House gerrymandering be damned.

not Bernie Underground. I like Bernie but he not even a Democrat that is what frustrates me. I turned off Thom Hartman because of his promotion of Senator Sanders. he doen't even mention Hillary unless a caller brings him up. So I found another radio show to listen to from 1 to 4. Such a refreshing change.

This can't be repeated enough. The real "Democratic Party" knows that we can't afford a McGovern size loss because it will put the courts, both houses of Congress, and the Oval Office in the hands of some of the wackiest mf'ers I've ever had the misfortune to know.

Real "democrats" have little use for the NorquistDogLake types, the Naderites, the Putin pushers, and the left-o-sphere which have increasingly become irrelevant to me as a "Democrat". These are not the folks with whom to build a lasting coalition. They are much too easily "disillusioned", and tend to turn on a dime.

When you hear fellow "Democrats" using the term "holding their feet to the fire", run like hell. The Obama presidency has taught me much.

I think you an I are old enough and politically knowledgable enough to know that failure does not constitute getting less than everything you want. Thinking that makes you no less extreme than the Freedom Caucus.......just a lefty version. Roosevelt did't even get everything he wanted; at last count there are still only 9 Supreme Court justices. I was there for McCarthy, Kennedy (Bobby), Anderson and Tsongas yet voted for the eventual nominee------my heart broke when Humphrey lost. My point is, less than perfection is not godawful, and all or nothing at all is childish. Any Democratic voter than will vote for Bernie only, any Bernie fan that thinks Hillary is just as bad as what's facing us on the other side, is acting like a child, an uninformed child. And that can cost a whole lot of lives come January 2017 and beyond.

We're just too stupid to realize that Bernie is FDR incarnate. You know...they'll be all self righteous and patronizing like they are now.
