Sanders campaign's Clinton data searches appear to violate federal law.

Summaries of data logs provided to the AP show the Sanders team spent nearly an hour in the database reviewing information on Clinton's high-priority voters and other data from nearly a dozen states, including first-to-vote Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Some of these voter lists were saved into a folder named "Targets," according to the logs. Uretsky's deputy appeared to focus on pulling data on South Carolina and Iowa voters based on turnout and support — or lack of support — for Clinton.

The Sanders campaign employees who accessed the Clinton voter information without authorization appear to have run afoul of the federal Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, said Jason Weinstein, a former supervisor of the Justice Department's computer crimes section.

Those employees "have reason to be concerned about legal exposure," he said, for what appears to fit the definition of illegal hacking.

Campaign is trying to play catchup. Their big problem is Hillary is a stronger candidate than Sanders, violating the database will not make Sanders stronger.

for Clinton too.

Along with the media, the DNC... Who else am I missing?

What is infuriating, the campaign was clearly up to dirty tricks, then he uses the kerfuffle to whip up the base and soak them for $$$$ and THEN we still get lectured about the sterling ethics of the anti-politician Bernie Sanders. And he is playing SMASH MOUTH dirty politics all over the place. The hypocrisy is even more glaring that usual.

Uretsky and his co-conspirators saved this Clinton data into a file they named "Targets" that listed Dem voters who were less likely to vote for Hillary. It was valuable data that would allow Bernie to target his resources to the most pursuadable voters.

Absolutely psycho that they'd turn this all around on the HRC campaign after *their* campaign's wrongdoing, which yes, violates laws in this. Totally irresponsible and a complete failure of leadership on all level.

I hope that Justice takes a pass on this.

There is nothing good to be accomplished by perpetuating this. The only clear winners from a protracted intra-Dem fight are Republicans.

Now... if the Sanders campaign continues to pursue this lawsuit, then I say fuck 'em. If Sanders continues to attack the DNC publicly, then fuck him. At that point, it'll be clear that their desperation has morphed into a scheme to kneecap the Democratic Party. If so, the Party should destroy their little hipster haven and never look back.

But it is very expensive. Figuring out who are pursuadable Dem voters for your candidate, and who are not, so you don't waste your resources, is a time-consuming, expensive task performed by professionals. The Sanders campaign pilfered valuable data. Riversedge has posts explaining this. http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1251&pid=918537

No doubt the Clinton campaign paid a lot of money for this data, maybe millions. The Sanders campaign could use this data without having paid for it, and save enormous amounts of money by targeting specific Dem voters that data said were less likely to vote for Hillary. Indeed, the Uretsky cabal saved such data to a file they named "Target."
