Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumSanders Supporters' Ongoing Hissy Fit
From now until the morning of February 2nd, I'm just going to hang around here, if that's okay. I have already stated elsewhere on DU that I will indeed vote for Bernie next November if he ends up with the nomination. But I've yet to see any Sanders supporters (I'm sure there are some on the website that I simply haven't seen) make a reciprocal promise vis-a-vis Hillary. Do these people want a Trump or a Cruz (or ANY GOP nutjob, for that matter) in the White House???
I'm going back to bed now. I couldn't sleep earlier, and probably won't be able to now, but I have to try.

(317,775 posts)just the loud vocal few who say they won't.
But they better not be advocating others not to or I think we all know what happens around here.
Not pretty.

(5,075 posts)I vote in the primary for the person that best represents me.
I vote in the general against the person that represents me the least.
But I always vote.
Rest easy now. 💤💤💤

(59,884 posts)Just like any Democrat would be crazy not to vote for Hillary if she's the nominee-
After all, in 6 months' time, we WILL have a nominee who either will be our next president or lose to a nut case right wing whacko who will choose Supreme Court justices who WILL negate abortion rights, voting rights and civil rights.
I've read enough posts on both sides to say that the Sanders supporters definitely do not WANT a Trump or a Cruz in the White House. The fact that even one of them is willing to risk that just to not vot for Hillary if she is the nominee is scary.
There are plenty of reasonable Sanders supporters in DU. After all, I find that many of his positions ARE reasonable. Granted, some of the rhetoric gets old, and there are (last I looked) 1,752 billionaires in the USA. That leaves an awful lot of people who are not, and I can't see concentrating a whole campaign on 1752 people.
As for Hillary, yes, she could probably do a credible job, and no, she is probably not as completely beholden to evil powers as is often claimed. But she does bring some baggage that should be confronted rather than swept under the table. These things have a way of resurfacing when you least want them to. Better to confront them head on and get it out of the way.
On the other hand, there was just a post in a group where some nasty, self-righteous warrior banned me from posting, calling you Hillary supporters "insecure," "religious in your devotion to her," "immature and childish," and "extremely dogmatic." This is EXACTLY the impression I get of the more fanatic of the Sanders supporters (shortage of mirrors, maybe), and on DU, at least, that appears to be most of them. Luckily not all of them are like that, and the reasonable ones make good points that deserve NOT to be ignored.
Maybe someone should start a "shouting-free zone" group where Bernie supporters, Hillary supporters, O'Malley supporters and undecideds (like me) can toss comments and observations around without getting torn to shreds by attack dogs who apparently are unaware of the concept of civility. I would have thought such a group could have been called DU, but that notion got dispelled a long time ago.

(15,664 posts)supporters here on DU and elsewhere claim that they will indeed support the Dem candidate in the GE, whoever that candidate is. They know what's at stake.
I am a Hillary supporter and yes, I too will support Bernie in the GE if he wins the Dem nomination.
I believe that those Bernie supporters who continue to state - over and over, just in case their anti-Hillary bias is not yet crystal clear - that they will absolutely not support Hillary belong to a small, fanatically zealous, and strident group of frequent DU posters who don't seem to realize that they are alienating more people than they are convincing.
Or perhaps they do ... they are certainly doing Bernie's candidacy a disservice.

(15,664 posts)here's one of the small group right on time to prove my point.
The majority of Bernie's supporters are not like you, thankfully. And yes, I actually know several personally and they are good friends/former colleagues. We have three excellent candidates, each of whom has attracted a majority of good supporters as well as a minority of not-so-good.
Hillary and her good supporters thank you for managing to smear us and Hillary both, and me in particular by association. It's such a winning tactic. Not.

This is the fight that goes on for the nominee that we actually want which allows us in good conscience to vote for the "lesser of two evils" in November. The bluster you see right now from all sides will subside once the nominee is apparent. The small number of sore losers remaining will be proven to be disingenuous shit-stirrers.
Pleasant dreams.
