"How about a warm welcome for our recent under-the-bus inductees? [View all]
It's quite a distinguished crowd.
Paul Krugman, nobel laureate, liberal economist, been right about economic issues more than anyone else over the last decade. His sin was giving an honest, kool-aid free assessment of Bernie's healthcare plan. Can't have that! Re-education camp for you!
Bill de Blasio, NYC mayor, one of the leading progressive politicians in America. His crime was going to Iowa to campaign for Hillary. Under the bus you go!
Rachel Maddow, liberal MSNBC anchor, one of the smartest voices in the media. A little too smart for the Bernie crowd, it turns out. For pointing out the obvious fact that the GOP is employing the same strategy Claire McCaskill used with Todd Akin -- trying to help Bernie win the primary -- she's been sentence to an indefinite period of under-the-bus detention.
Planned Parenthood WTF, you may ask? Yes, PP had the temerity to endorse the candidate that supports and represents their cause more strongly than anyone who has ever run for president. That's no good at all. So Bernie dismisses them as "establishment." The good news is, they'll be under the bus along with the rest of us.
On edit, how could I forget? NARAL and HRC. Bernie fans seem to really dislike progressive organizations. Particularly progressive organizations which endorse progressive candidates.
And an honorable mention goes to...
Martin O'Malley Not exactly thrown under the bus, but close. Bernie fans have apparently decided that Martin really wants his supporters to caucus for Bernie rather than for him in the upcoming Iowa caucus. Yes, really.
Pretty soon we're going to need a few more buses..".

(11,093 posts)Rachel doesn't need to be so frickin' loud. I know she's trying to sound indignent, but Jon Stewart got his point across at half the volume. I generally agree with what she has to say, but not how she says it. Generally I don't watch her because I don't want to be yelled at.

(42,862 posts)The reasons that the original version of this would be hidden is beyond all logic and reason.
But, as Skinner recently pointed out, the sitewide 6:1 ratio of Bernie to Hillary supporters is also reflected in the makeup of the juries as well. It's a weakness in the jury system that's being worked and played to the advantage of one side over the other.
DanTex
(20,709 posts)Didn't realize people actually read that OP before the hide. With this and the GD thread, now I'm starting to feel like some kind of martyr. (Dear Jury, that's a joke).
Anyway, yeah, absurd hide, but that happens all the time. The jury system doesn't work in a highly skewed partisan environment.
I sure appreciate the appreciation.

(20,709 posts)ALERTER'S COMMENTS
You'd think Sanders supporters were fascist rethuglicans reading this drivel.
JURY RESULTS
A randomly-selected Jury of DU members completed their review of this alert at Tue Jan 26, 2016, 10:28 PM, and voted 5-2 to HIDE IT.
Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: I agree with the alerter. This poster is looking for a fight by being so over the top rude. He is what is currently wrong with DU.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Sanders is open about the fact that he wants to bring on a political revolution. Part of that requires standing up to people and organizations that support the tired and outdated status quo. Might as well get use to it and discuss the issues on its merits.
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: "Re-education camp" is a dog-whistle code word for authoritarian communism such as the re-education camps in North Korea. This is a red-baiting, McCarthyist tactic being used against Sanders because he calls himself a democratic socialist.
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Ridiculous and rude!
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Divisive bullshit.
Juror #7 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given

So, Dan... how does it feel to be "what is wrong with DU"? Apparently it's all YOUR fault! Who knew?

Are you serious with this explanation? My Dog ! McCarthyist tactic? How far back did you have to reach to come up with that bullshit? Red baiting? Pffft. You do know and realize this is the Democratic party nomination process, don't you? If anything should be hidden it's the watered-down beer you've served up as your explanation.

(63,255 posts)I can formally declare that a bullshit hide.
Good grief.
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)It appears that in theory, and with the (bad) luck of the draw, someone could be "banned" (time-out?) for simply saying "my candidate is better than yours".
Would the banishment (or time-out) stick if any-or-all of the hidden posts were bullshit hides? Or could an appeal be sought?
Can a post be alerted on multiple times until a "friendly" jury has the necessary ratio? Or is a post safe after it survives the first alert?
Orrex
(63,255 posts)I'm sure there are specific rules about this, but my takeaway is that a post that survives a jury can no longer be alerted on. It might still be hidden by Admin or thread-locked by a host, but the jury appears to be pass/fail.

(12,504 posts)...His essay on Women's fantasies and Bernie's comments regarding multiple orgasms curing cancer....was not only touted as a lie by the alerter, but got me a hide since juror jumped on that band wagon. Of course it wasn't a lie, but they certainly didn't like it.
Oh well, they will hear and believe what they want to hear and believe and everything else will be called a damned lie so they can justify a hide.

(2,034 posts)let's show them with our vote. The ones I have on ignore right now I will take them all off ignore so I can enjoy the complaining when their candidate does not win the nomination.
Orrex
(63,255 posts)Since the very beginning when Sanders announced that he's now a Democrat and running for president, I saw his supporters laying the groundwork for pre-rationalizing his defeat.
Clinton is to blame.
The DNC is to blame.
DWS is to blame.
The media is to blame.
The GOP is to blame.
Skeptical DUers are to blame.
And so on. You can see it in the ongoing daily threads telling us that one or more of the above are afraid of Sanders.
That way, if he doesn't win the primary, it will have been due to the nefarious machinations of the establishment, rather than to any failure by the candidate or his supporters. The current OP is a good example of the same: anyone who questions his potential is declared the enemy and thrown aside. Or thrown under.
I like Sanders, and I like a great many of his ideas, but I am simply not convinced that he's the strongest national candidate nor that he would be effective in the Whitehouse. The incomparable Jimmy Carter was a just and moral man with great ideas, but he wasn't a strong competitor, and we're still suffering from the damage inflicted by his successor. The louder his supporters howl, the less convincing they become.
If Sanders lands on the ballot I will most assuredly support and vote for him, and I'll even overlook the smug "I told you so's" that we'll get from his supporters. But still seems unlikely.
And if he makes it to November and doesn't win, I suspect that the defeat will be blamed on Clinton's supporters as well, for failing to support him passionately enough or something.

(15,374 posts)accurately has totally turned me off.
In the still unlikely event that Bernie is the Dem candidate in the GE, I will support him.
But ... while the cult-like atmosphere around him is not necessarily his fault, I find it very troubling and not conducive to much that is productive other than gathering large crowds.
If it brings more voters into the process who will remain interested and committed to work for good candidates at every level, that's great, and congratulations to him. Such is badly needed. But I don't see a lot of this brouhaha necessarily translating into much other than Bernie fever.

(11,243 posts)I came back to see if there were any new posts, and was VERY surprised it had been locked. I didn't see any individual call outs or personal attacks. Looks like that one hit a nerve..... The under-the-bus list has grown exponentially recently. I guess it is getting too difficult to rationalize how ALL those progressive politicians and organizations can be "establishment". Interestingly, moderate Sanders supporters on my Facebook are even beginning to call out the attacks.

In hindsight, probably was better, since Kerry turned on Hillary in 2008..
