Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumWell my Hillary sign lasted two days.
Stolen overnight last night. It was there when I went to bed and gone when I got up. I am going back to get another one, they won't win.

(11,954 posts)Signs cost money that are paid for by those who contribute to the campaign, too. Nasty tactics. Still, a sign is representative--they cannot steal what is in our hearts and minds, or silence us.

(12,391 posts)The guy across the street used to tell me he spit on my Obama sign when they were out walking...lovely man, he has a Trump sticker on his truck.
I always give the party $10 when I get a sign so this time I'll give them $50 and get two . That way when they steal them, they are really donating to the Democratic party .

(15,438 posts)Carson and Rand Paul, but I haven't seen any Trumps, yet. But I know just about every Republican in my circle of acquaintances is a Trump supporter (closeted racist - so I now know their true colors).
With the largest Latino population in California, I say, more power to you dolts!

Seriously, I am sorry to see that you have been the victim of such petty vindictiveness. It doesn't say much for your neighbors and I'm very sorry that you have to live among such.

(12,391 posts)Well we live in Oklahoma so it should not surprise anyone that we live around people like this. We have learned when to poke the dog and when to let it be crazy.

(15,462 posts)I've been phone-banking for Hillary with OK Dem voters. I don't live there, but am a Montanan by birth so understand some of the mindset and have enjoyed talking to them. Good people all, except for one lady who hung up on me, LOL.
Last week, most I reached (a lot didn't answer & there were wrong numbers, etc.) said that they were "Undecided," but last night "Hillary" won the night by a 4:1 ratio over Bernie and EVERYONE said that they were going to vote.
Perhaps the results in NV had something to do with that or perhaps there have been more HRC ads or whatever since.
In any event, half of those for Bernie volunteered that they would vote for whoever was the Dem candidate in the GE. I didn't specifically ask the question so was encouraged by that.
You are not alone, although it may seem so more often than not.
Perhaps OK can turn purple this year.

(12,391 posts)If people who bash Oklahoma could be here after a tornado and see how quickly people come together to help each other they would be amazed. People watch out for their neighbors here, even the ones who don't agree with them. Outside of the guy across the street our neighbors, even the right wing ones, treat us with total respect and care.
We came here almost 20 years ago, I didn't want my husband to take the job based on what I had heard about Oklahoma. The day we moved it was 102 degrees, we had a loaded rental truck that was smoking and 2 dogs. Within 10 minutes of pulling into the driveway we had 4 neighbors over helping my husband and I unload the truck, then lemonade and pizza from the lady next door. It was an amazing welcome. Did they invite us to church, yes, we thanked them kindly, said we had that covered and went on.
It is easy to see only one side, especially during election time when we are more than aware that we are very much a minority. Even on a University campus you are a bit out of place here. But the pluses outweigh the negative.
The people here are beyond kind.

(15,462 posts)in MT that had about 1,000 people and so never discount people even from the supposedly "reddest" areas.
Even though our politics may not always be the same, there are too many good people of good will everywhere in the US - and in the world - that are ill-served by mere stereotypes.
I'm glad that your experience has been a good one overall!

(19,460 posts)Truthfully though, she didn't really know it was mine. I have a quarter mile drive back into the woods at my home and this sign was on the road near our mail box. She thought it had come from a candidate office so she took it. I let her keep it and bought a Tshirt instead.

My Bernie sign got taken out by a snow plow a few months ago. More where that came from.

(12,391 posts)They are under the assumption that there are no democrats in this state. Well there are more than they realize and many of us are tired of letting them get away with destroying our country and our state.
There are some really really nice people here, some are Republicans, but boy are there some really scary right wing people who learn to hate at a really early age. We are often referred to as the number 1 red state and our voting validates that label.
I think the party is making some progress, but the infighting over Bernie vs. Hillary could undo everything we have been working for.
I just keep putting stickers on the cars and in the yard, sometimes poking them is the best I can do.

(8,333 posts)That sign is your property. Stealing yard signs is illegal
Perhaps you could put up a security sign nearby indicating video surveillance.
One guy rigged an alarm to his sign in 2008! http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/18/634936/-
Or find something to smear behind the sign ... something sticky and unpleasant. Whoever steals it will have that stuff smeared on his or her hand as punishment.

The offender may be charged with theft, damage to property and trespassing.
