Hillary Clinton Is One of the Most Ethical (and Most Lied About) Political Leaders in Americaby self-described former DU blogger Peter Daou
Hillarys detractors on the right, left and center reel off a laundry list of unsupported accusations with an air of absolute authority, as though it is simply a given that she is a terrible, horrible, no-good human being.
And that is precisely the intention: Taint her through innuendo and guilt-by-association, throw enough dirt at her that voters develop an instant negative association with her name. Accuse, accuse, accuse until the accusation becomes the reality, and may the truth be damned.
Karl Rove, the Koch brothers, and billionaire conservative moneymen like Paul Singer have spent inordinate sums to paint a malignant picture of Hillary, using sophisticated propaganda techniques to render her toxic to the American electorate.
Sadly, many on the left imbibe and regurgitate these fabricated narratives, spewing falsehoods and filth at Hillary with gleeful abandon. They are joined by mainstream media operatives with personal vendettas like Maureen Dowd and the Morning Joe crew, whose venomous words reveal more about their own failings than about Hillary.

(10,845 posts)Their caricature of Hillary is all lies. I am disgusted by the so-called progressives in GD-P who perpetuate this straw man caricature.
It doesn't matter. Hillary will win both the primary and GE. Most Americans know about the falsehoods they are being fed by the right and extreme left.

(50,557 posts)The GOP sees two routes for victory in November. Unfortunately, neither of the two involves finding someone fit to be president.
The first route was inspired by Hedley Lamarr in Blazing Saddles: find someone whose very appearance will drive them away from the ballot box. I realize the kids of today have a different view of communism than those of us who lived when there actually was any, but the people who cast ballots in great numbers - senior citizens - will not take kindly to a guy who illegally went to Nicaragua and apologized to the Sandinistas for America.
I realize this is a hard-right media source:
http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/420228/bernie-sanderss-soviet-honeymoon-john-fund
but fuck it, if the Bernie fans are going to use right-wing hit pieces against Hillary, I'm gonna use them against Sanders.
Since Plan A ain't gonna work, on to Plan B: demonize Hillary both from the right and from the left while glorifying Bernie. I actually saw someone claim Bernie couldn't be rattled. Wrong, goat breath: all you need to do to rattle Bernie's cage is ask him a question he can't instantly answer with his patented noun-verb-rich people are bad! sentence structure.

Do PoC trust her? Yes.
Does President Obama trust her? Yes.
Are Republicans spending millions on both Democratic Party candidates? No. Only on Hillary Clinton.
There you have it. Hillary Clinton is our best chance at defeating the Republicans and the one candidate they fear the most. Period.

(15,438 posts)Something we need to remind ourselves in these contentious times when Republicans are playing for keeps since SCOTUS hangs in the balance and that's all they care about - eroding rights for the people using a friendly SCOTUS.
I won't be bamboozled.

(42,862 posts)Well, if their goal is to annoy Hillary supporters on this web site, then maybe it's "Mission Accomplished".
But if their goal is to harm Hillary so that Bernie will win the nomination, chalk it up as an EPIC FAIL!!
Go, Hillary! We love you!

(16,104 posts)there's no point in arguing with them.
We'll have to get this done without them.

(10,828 posts)All of this nonsense is preparing us for the battle ahead in the General Election. For all the misinformation and smearing coming from the Sanders' contingent this is a mere smidge of what to expect when the next phase rolls out. Particularly with The Donald leading the attacks. He who knows no bounds of decency, the Grand Vulgarian will say and do ANYTHING to avoid being perceived a Loser.
So, in the end the Sanders' campaign may have provided a useful purpose by vaccinating us for the incoming scourge. Because this is going to get a whole lot uglier. Hillary Clinton has an enormous task ahead. She'll not only be fighting for the Democratic Party. If the Trumpster prevails in the nominating process, she'll be fighting for the very heart and soul of the country.

(16,104 posts)We all could have taken the high road with our one true common goal of defeating the Republican nominee.
We could have celebrated our candidates! We could have dreamed together!
But the "Someone Else" and "Anyone But" factions took the low road.
Now we're mired and muddied in the basest of politics. In our own Party, on our own websites!
You know who's laughing?

(4,640 posts)very, very well when the right wing smear machine started in on her, so many years ago. They were relentless then, and they continue to do so throughout her public life. I expect we'll see them really ramp it up in a month or so again.
