Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumMore coincidental Clinton email releases? (Hillary Group)
I guess on the eve of the South Carolina primary it is just a coincidence.
Pretty bland and innocuous, as usual.
The State Department is closing in on its goal to release all of former Secretary Hillary Clinton's private emails. Just before 6 p.m. tonight it published 881 of her emails, totaling 1,589 pages.
*****
Of the emails posted today, 88 were upgraded to "confidential," which is a lowest level of classification.
*****
In one of the emails released today, a former Marine and Iraq veteran sends a heartfelt and somewhat prescient email to Secretary Clinton after meeting with her and discussing the U.S troop withdrawal.
*****
In another email, a senior U.S. diplomat mentions a conversation he had with Bob Bergdahl, father of then prisoner of war Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. This diplomat says Bob was expressing anxiety about recent threats from Bowe's captors." I told him that [Bowe] is always on all of our minds," this official says he told Bob.
*****
The next -- and final -- release is expected on the Monday evening before Super Tuesday, when presidential candidates compete for delegates in a dozen states.

Oh well.

(879 posts)they are fulfilling a FOIA request, and have to comply with the judge's timetable. And they had to complete releasing all the e-mails by the end of February, which is why the final, large, e-mail dump is happening Monday.
It won't matter. There is nothing in these e-mails that anyone cares about. It's a witch hunt. Hillary has said release them all from the beginning because she knows there is nothing in these e-mails.
The timing actually helps her. Everyone is horse race focused, that they fly under the radar. The last dump had a lot more press coverage than this one. And the one on Monday is sure to get drowned out by Super Tuesday coverage.

(1,968 posts)Nobody can read enough and get the data into the media before tomorrow, so the impact on SC is nil (if not slightly positive just due to the bad optics of the release timing).
Monday, ditto. And since Clinton is sure there's no there "there," I'm not worried about it.

(4,640 posts)scheduled via a court order. All of these had to be released by February 29th. As nothing has been found with the already released emails, I expect a big nothing on this last bunch as well.
As to the transcripts, I completely agree with our candidate on this. Why should she, when no one else is being asked for this or has to?
Why is she being held to a double standard on this? Because she's a WOMAN.

(879 posts)the transcripts are just so they can go on a fishing expedition. They want to pour over every word, so they can take something out of context and distort it. There is no actual reason to release those.
And the reason she's saying everyone has to release their speech transcripts is not just to avoid a double standard, but also so she'll have equal opportunity to do the same thing.
These candidates (other than Rubio) all have long track records in the public. A random private speech transcript is irrelevant.
