CNN:The origins of Sanders' ideology, in his own words | Hillary Clinton Group

By Brianna Keilar, CNN Senior Correspondent
Updated 10:11 AM ET, Mon February 29, 2016

In 1969, just a few years before Bernie Sanders first sought public office, he penned a number of columns on a variety of topics: sexuality -- including violent rape fantasies and the sexual development of children -- emotional links to cancer, foreign relations and the failures of traditional education.

He rails against "conservative" education -- what he viewed as an ineffective and soulless learning environment where children must "sit still for 7 hours a day ... and raise their hands when they have to go to the bathroom."

It was a theme he returned to repeatedly that year, denouncing authoritarian teaching styles.

Often "a child has an old bitch of a teacher (and there are many of them) or pehaps (sic) he simply is not interested in school and would rather be doing other thing (sic)," Sanders wrote in his column, "Cancer, Disease and Society," for an alternative publication called The Vermont Freeman.

is getting a little tired of the "irascible curmudgeon" narrative of Senator Sanders (I-VT).

Expect a more thorough vetting going forward.

Being so certain the Bernie Bullies will hide anything we put up that's even slightly negative about their man crush, we have to look for someone who won't get kicked off the board for pointing out reality.

and what is in it, would do Bernie in by the slow drip drip that will make how the GOP turned John Kerry's War hero status pale in comparison.

That's why I pity those polls that show him beating anyone, especially Republican candidates.

They'll do him in as sure as the sun rises in the east. There will not, however, be any drip-drip-drip about it...one "I employ 300 people and I'll have to fire them all if Bernie Sanders gets elected because his tax increases and mandatory pay hikes will put me out of business" ad aired the day before the election, and Hello President Rubio!

the Communist." The republicans will bang that drum until the cows come home. Incorrect? Well of course it is! Will it stick with many? Most definitely.

Note to clarify - I am not saying the Senator is, I am saying the republicans will make that claim

Be careful, young Democrat. We don't want that to happen to you.

The problem with the "Bernie the Communist" thing: it will be DAMN hard to disprove.

If any of that is new to you, there's more early stuff here-

The part about JFK making him want to puke bowls me over every time I think about it. That and that he never voted until he was on a ballot in his thirties were the first things that turned me off of him. He gave some good speeches in the Senate, but coupled with those things, I found him lacking.

Than the Republicans. After all, he's never actually had to fight the Republicans, not really, not in his elections. Any republicans they have in a state that elects Sanders with such huge margins are irrelevant. So he legged it out of New York, because the fight against real opposition was too difficult, and instead he went to Vermont and started his 40-year long crusade against the Democrats. He is the original purity tester. He'd rather let the village burn to save it, than let someone save some of the houses and use their energy to build more houses.
